In the player introductions for the Broncos game last Sunday, Eric Parker credits Joliet Township HS rather than Tennessee. Any ideas why? He was an undrafted free agent out of there, is it because hes got no love for the program?

Maybe he wanted to give props to his high school, being it's less well known and wanted to put it on the map.

For quite a few years, Donnie Edwards would state "Chula Vista High School" instead of UCLA.

Everyone knows UCLA, but very few outside of San Diego know about Chula Vista High School, where, coincidentally, I used to go to school as well.

The coach from Tennessee said, he would never make it in the NFL being his size so Eric has no love for Tennessee. Something along those lines. Im sure i got the story all screwed up i will get it again

Long story short. Parker came to Tennessee as a highly touted receiver out of Illinois, but when he got there, he was overshadowed by Peerless Price and first round bust Marcus Nash. Then, he got hurt, I believe, his junior year and got surpassed on the depth chart by Kelley Washington (Bengals), Donte Stallworth (Eagles), and Cedrick Wilson (Steelers). Eric never really got an opportunity to show his skills there. We were so loaded at Tennessee at that time, that there were lots of guys who never got their time to shine.

They were loaded at the time. I'm glad he got buried on the depth chart or we might not have had a shot at him...

It took me a few years to trust him because of the injury factor, but he has become one of my favorite players just because of how reliable he is. The guy is a machine on third down. :bolt:

Chula Vista = METRO LEAGUE!!! (That's what I say whenever I see Donnie.)

No more metro league though. They renamed it to MESA LEAGUE.

    Mt Carmel! PUSD!

    ...

O god I hated highschool. If I was doing player introductions I'd name the street I was born on before any god awful school I had to go to. And that includes college...

You mean Mt. MiGhetto? just kidding that was Grossmont's nickname for them. That school sucked. High school in general is kinda pointless. One of my highlights was watchin Reggie Bush and Alex Smith destroy our football team. G-House!

College on the other hand... God blessed San Diego women.

We were pretty good in the late 70's to early 80's. Fell off after that I think.

Toby you should have known El Capitan High School because it opened its doors in 1959.

That is where I went to High School.

MONTGOMERY HIGH AZTECS!!! Yea we suck.

This thread has become more of a high school alumni thread rather than EP and his college. :icon_mrgreen:

Oh really? ha. just thought it was from the snobby pricks from my school. I swear some of the kid's only experiences with other races were from their nannys or gardeners.
Talking about alumni, who was your school's most famous alumni? I love seeing the talent San Diego produces.
Oh yeah, Brian Sipe (QB for SDSU, Cleveland) was our best one I guess. NFL MVP 1980.

ummm Fairfield High School! We usually suck at football cause we have to play Colerain every year! And if you pay any attention to high school football then you know they are in the top 5 nationally, year in, and year out!
