Wherever these Valkyries drop me...
Just in from holiday camping trip, and watched the "condensed" (all plays, no time between)
versions of LAC/Den and the (better) 49er/Raven game.

I think that--by the book--yeah, it technically was PI, but as a rule, you hate to see a game hinge
on such an iffy call. On the other hand, LAC were playing a lousy team and trailed virtually the
entire game. And faced another QB with as many NFL snaps as a Starbucks barista.
The football gods didn't want to give the LAC this one without earning it...and they didn't.

Feel kinda bad for PR: Yes, that INT was horrendous...but he was decent after that, and
still lost a close one...and was humiliated by having something called a "tie-rod" warming up.

I think the LAC plan is to get Derwin injured in a 100% meaningless game.
I haven't worked out the motive, yet...that just seems to be the LAC plan. :(
Poor guy. 31 other teams coulda drafted him.

Lastly, I think losing games for draft position is almost always a bad plan.
Bengals, Giant & Dolphins, etc. will already get the top players.
After that there's marginal differences in talent, and who really believes that any GM has
shown enough skill to consistently exploit those minor differences?
I don't see the LAC roster being significantly better in '20 if they finish out 0-4 or 2-2...

p.s.: Fun stat for dean-o to try to sleep on:
Raiders are 6-6, with a net point total of -87
LAC are 4-8, with a net point total of +3 :whistling:

Cinn vs. the Jets
The Jets were the foe during the last one of these “is-anyone-watching-this-game?” stories, the “Sell the team!” game at Washington’s FedEx Field two weeks back. We can draw two conclusions from that: First, the Jets aren’t exactly a road draw these days, and, second, the Jets have played in front of a combined 37 people over those past two weeks.

This will be one of those stadium photos that the usual bad-faith types trot out to show the NFL is “dying” or whatever, but the simple truth is that it’s tough to blame Bengals fans for turning their backs on this winless, hapless team. The whole “support-your-team-through-good-times-and-bad” maxim wears thin when there’s nothing but bad times both ahead and behind.

Tickets for this game were going for as low as $9 at kickoff, and that might be overpriced.

I can hear it now, quote from the front office "We feel we need to now go in a new direction at QB and have full faith that tie-rod will steer us in the right direction going forward to 2020 and beyond"

Yup, the old "supportive fans in good and bad times, fair and fowl weather, is no longer something that the NFL can brag about, nor it's cities. Prices are too damn high because of all the commercialism and having to pay the players huge salaries, especially the QB's. That's what they get for tilting the tables to favor the offensive skill players so as to artificially give the game the 'excitement' factor they felt it needed to draw crowds in. Well, folks aren't gonna splurge for high priced tickets to watch garbage let alone 9 dollars in this case. Why? The game has lost it's appeal. And when an organization, such as the bungles and , as we knnow so well , the spanos chuggers, can do nothing but trot out a tomato can team with tomato can head coaching year after year......the fans eventually just stop watching and turn against that team and owner. Eff them. They are getting exactly what they deserve. Now the bungles will likely look elsewhere for a stadium and fans, a city they can dupe into falling into the NFL rabbit hole.

I think their stadium is relatively new. I thought I read somewhere Cincinnati got screwed in the deal and the taxpayers will be paying millions for decades to owner who doesn’t give a sheet about the city or the fans.

this would have been our destiny if we would have caved.

Long article on Cinn. and dated back to 2016. But I doubt the numbers are better now.

Quote from the article...

The Bengals' sent their letter at a time when three NFL teams are considering exits from their home cities for a new stadium.

NFL owners approved last week a request from the St. Louis Rams and the San Diego Chargers to relocate to Los Angeles. The Oakland Raiders also were considering the same move but withdrew their request. The St. Louis Rams are ending their lease agreement with St. Louis early, and leaving the city with a pile of debt to pay off on their old stadium.

they are as good as gone. Only 300 k people in the city. The county has already forked over 940 million and they are on the hook til 2026.

the lease is a joke, if 14 teams surpass Paul brown stadium in game day experience, the browns can
Open up negotiations.

the article is from 2016, but I guarantee the owner is licking his chops to fleece another city.

17-17 SEA vs MINN. 3rd QTR> Penny just scored on a nice drive by SEA after shutting down MINN on a 3 and out. DJ Fluker is a starting lineman for the Seahawks. So 2 SD guys playing for them. Fluker is a road grader and helps their run game a lot. I guess Pete Carroll saw something in the guy the chugger dummies never did. What else is new?

He's incredible, and they just showed a stat where he joins only Brady and Peyton Manning as the 3 QB's to have won 8 straight games and during a 3000yd passing season.

37-30 Hawks win it. Too close for comfort. Ken Norton Jr.'s D made a horrendous blown coverage to give up a very easy long TD pass when they were way up in the game by 17 pts. Than DK Metcalf fumbled a pass. Allowed the Vikes to get right back in it real quick.

Not surprising, I do not think there was another game on at the time the Chargers/Broncos were on due to the Thanksgiving games.

Great game last night.

I am surprised that Minn didn't go Rudolph more. Seattle had no answer for him.

The replacement for cook was from BSU and gave state fits last year. Good RB.

I thought they went to diggs to many times.

Is it me or is cousins just a mediocre qb, no different than tannehill?

Yup, that was a critique of Cousins and the OC at the end of that game. They couldn't figure out why he threw to a rookie instead of going to Rudolph on that crucial down. Cousins looks really good to me but he is continuuing to reinforce the rap that he cannot win the really big games or in prime time. He gave SEA plenty of trouble but came up short in crunch time, almost on cue. Sounds like PR lolz.

Ron Rivera fired by Panthers, Norv made assistant to head coach. Defensive backs coach Perry Fewell will be the interim head coach.

I heard about Ron and first dream I had was my MU tigers signing him. Since we jus ran our still a journeyman coach in Barry out the door after 4 years and a .500 record. 1-1 in the post season too. Been talk for weeks about getting rid of him but our previous great coach Pinkell, had a worse record after his first 5 seasons. But the fans said he had to go. I'm still waiting on the answer to who is better for us.

They made Norv the head coach? .
No. Perry Fewell is interim HC.

I really like Rivera...watched him at Cal in the early '80s and respected the job he did here, with the SD Chargers...good man...

The new Carolina owner says he "...will not accept long-term mediocrity."

I love that quote because I'm pretty confident it will come back to bite Mr. Hedge Fund Manager:
I expect that without Rivera the Panthers will do worse, and fans will wish for "mediocrity."
