Darren Sproles was sick, he was a hell of a weapon, I wonder how much better our return game and our 3rd down passing game would be with him invovled this year.
Heres an awesome vid of my boy!!!

And Steve Foley, no doubt we need this skull cracker right now. Can you imagin how good out D would be if we had Foley, Phillips, Godfrey, Edwards, and Merriman all playing right now!!!
Enjoy a vid of my boy Foley too

I know we shouldnt dwell on injuries so long after they happened, but I think at the halfway point of the season they deserve a little love.

I sure dont miss Sprokets play. He killed me everytime he returned a ko. I just closed my eyes and prayed for him to hold on the ball while he got rocked. The guy is too small to return kicks, but fast enough to be a 3rd down specialist.

Foley I understand, but I enjoy calling the pressure from Merriman and Phillips. I do not miss foley on the field cuz Phillips is da man. But hopes for a smooth recovery. Shaun "the Electric Man" Phillips

I was just thinking about Sproles today. Wonder how his recovery is going. Anyone heard any news lately about Sproles or Folley and how they are doing?

i dont think foley comes back with us. I think we draft OL, WR, S, LB next year, not in any order.

Dont miss foley at all, he was good for one year, nothing special

I do miss sproles because atleast he added some excitement to our return game. I love Turner as a RB, but hes not a kick returner. He reminds me alot of Leon Johnson (as a kick retuner, not at RB). Hes solid, but you already know ahead of time that he isnt gonna take it all the way.

BTW, does anyone know why Cletis Gordan is on the roster? I mean i thought he was on the team to be a Kick returner. If he cant do that, cut him (or put him on IR) and sign Perkins to come in and return kicks

Lemme see...

In 2005, Darren Sproles averaged 24.3 yards per kick return and had 6 returns of 40 yards or more.

This year, Michael Turner is averaging 21.7 yards per kick return and has only 1 return of 40+ yards.

Yeah, Darren Sproles is too small and sure sucked as a kick returner didn't he?

Sproles was a weapon on screen passes and as a slot reciever too. He spread the defense big time on 3rd downs.

He's a POS punt returner, that much I know. He was afraid to get under the ball, and blocked FG be damned I still blame him for the loss in Philly last year.

As for his kick returns... whatever. I seem to remember the days when Ronnie Jenkins was the second coming, and the uproar that followed when we cut him. "WE ARE GOING TO REGRET THIS FOR YEARS" Blah blah blah... A year later he is out of the NFL.

Sproles is nothing special, and my money is on him getting cut once the team drafts an other RB this year.

I do miss Foley, especially with Phillips injury and Merriman's suspension.

I don't miss Sproles at all.

Play Cletis Gordon.

i heard that before sproles broke his leg that he was going to be as good a special teamer as that dude for the jets right now, And that sproles would be the best in the league.

I remember that hit foley mad, that was awesome

Good thread, I miss those two as well. I was really looking forward to having Phillips, Merriman and Foley all healthy, if our pass rush is this good now imagine it with Foley. :icon_eek:

Having the little man Sproles would also be nice, he always was a threat to take a return for a TD, plus I wanted to see what kind of plays they were working on for him.

Hopefully they both recover completely.

He was a rookie who didn't do PR's in college and you already placed judgment on him. I'm sorry but how can you expect someone to be good at something if they've never done it before, he had nowhere to go but up and he was doing a lot better in Pre-season.

Also Foley wasn't the reason we lost the game, it was poor coaching by Crosby (what a surprise) the Eagles player said that hole was there earlier in the game as well.

Jenkins was great, until the Chargers hired Crosby.

I bet Sproles is still around next season. I don't see him getting cut after 2 seasons unless he got hurt again.:bolt:
