The Browns are cursed

Now they lose ANOTHER center for four games.

Ephraim Suspended for Four Games

As we confirmed during tonight's OBR Radio program, Browns center Alonzo Ephraim will be suspended by the NFL for four regular season games due to a substance abuse violation. As reported by Pat McManamon this evening, it's believed that violation was for a previous incident prior to Ephraim joining the Cleveland Browns.

The suspension leaves the Browns precariously thin at a position which has already been chaotic since training camp opened in July.

In a bizarrely improbable succession of events, four centers have been made unavailable to the Browns since the first day of camp. LeCharles Bentley was injured on the first play of camp, backup center Bob Hallen acquired a previously unsuspected and still unconfirmed "back problem", undrafted free agent Rob Smith rolled his ankle, and now Ephraim has been lost for four game due to this suspension.

The net result has left Browns fans in the OBR forums considering the value of animal sacrifices and other rituals as a possible means of protecting remaining center Ross Tucker.

Do they have a good LOT we could use to trade for our Mruckzkowski?

Maybe trade for their backup LT Nat Dorsey?

Positives: Has a massive frame with thick legs, thighs and calves, broad shoulders and a wide waist … Flashed adequate initial quickness off the snap … Not explosive in his first move off the line, but does deliver a strong hand punch to jolt … Will position and sustain vs. the bull rush, keeping his feet under him while showing good lateral agility on the move … Engages with force in run blocking, getting his hands into the defender's chest quickly to wall off and sustain … Readily adjusts on the move, showing the ability to engage and sustain on pulls and traps … Has quick redirection agility, doing a nice job of defeating the speed rush and counters … Carries a heavy hand to literally knock defenders down and is able to recover and sustain body control after the initial hit … Has a very strong leg base and works well with the guards to clear rush lanes in-line … His balance and exceptional lateral agility allows him to get out front on pulls.

Negatives: Still seems to be favoring a shoulder injury that caused him problems in 2002 … Has good foot quickness in the short area, but labors to accelerate when asked to block in space (will use his long reach vs. the edge rush, but can be defeated by a smooth swim move) … Has had problems controlling his weight in the past (when he plays over 325 pounds, he has stamina issues late in games) … Will deliver a heavy hand punch, but needs to be more consistent with its use (better vs. the pass than using it on the move) … Not the most focused player you will find (gets called for a high amount of false starts).

I saw that. Crazy. Maybe it's the Euro's putting a curse on Lerner after he purchased the soccer club Aston Villa. :icon_shrug:
