NEW YORK (Ticker) - LaDainian Tomlinson and Drew Brees spearheaded the San Diego Chargers' revival over the last two years. Now on different teams, Tomlinson and Brees have been rewarded for their continued excellence.

Tomlinson on Wednesday was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week while Brees earned the NFC Offensive Player of the Week honor.

Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor and San Francisco 49ers linebacker Brandon Moore were named as the Defensive Players of the Week while Buffalo Bills punter Brian Moorman and Washington Redskins safety Troy Vincent took Special Teams honors.

I'll always think of them as two brothers from texas. Two very good footballers that were overlooked by most big college programs. That through hard work and perseverance have done very well.

LaDainian Tomlinson became the first player in 33 years with 172 or more rushing yards and three or more rushing touchdowns on 18 or fewer carries.

Tomlinson was 18-for-172 rushing against the Browns with three touchdowns. The last player to do that was Mercury Morris of the Dolphins, who was 15-for-197 with three TDs against the Patriots in 1973.

Since 1996, Tomlinson has two games with 172 or more rushing yards and three rushing TDs on 21 or fewer carries -- and no other NFL player has any...
