Possible Austin Hedges trade with Mets?

Who do we want for him? Do the Mets have some mediocre corner outfielder, preferably in his 30s with injury troubles, we could get? I prefer the guys who have sucked most of their careers, finally had a decent season on two, and are now guaranteed to carry overpriced contracts we can't get rid of.
Perhaps we can continue with the unplanned chaos strategy by reverting back to looking for prospects. Let's get a future shortstop and third baseman. Or, better yet, let's get an unproven corner outfielder with a .220 Double A average we can put in the Majors to leadoff a couple times per month but mostly rot away on the bench.

Interesting that the Mets are having offensive issues with their catchers but are considering the worst offensive catcher in Hedges. Yeah, defensively he’s great but the article summed it up best when it said the Padres could no longer afford Hedges to be a drain in the 8 hole.

Mets: take either Myers or Hosmer off of our hands, full contract, and we’ll throw in Hedges.

It is weird we built a badass defensive infield with Manny, Tatis, Hosmer, and Hedges, and loaded our outfield with defensive scrubs. It is almost as if we don't have a plan for the type of team we want to be.

They thought they had a good defensive OF. Margot and Franchy are both excellent defenders. Too bad Margot was inconsistent offensively and Franchy was always injured. Renfroe is actually above average in RF, Myers stinks out there and Franmil might be worse than Edgar Martinez in the field.

The problem was the offense. Outside of Tatis, everyone pretty much sucked at the plate.

ESPN put out their top 20 rankings and the Pads didn’t make the cut.

yup......offense was absent much of the year....really really frustrating. This Hedges thing to the Mets makes no sense for them if they want an offensive catcher as well as defense. They'll be as disappointed as us. I like the guy for his defense a lot and a team guy....really likeable. But the NY fans might eat him alive.
