yup.

And dodgers will probably sign mookie betts long term.

Honestly, Padres should negotiate a buy out with Myers and move on.
It would be nice if that were an option but I’m not sure their collective bargaining allows for that. It’s why you see a lot of these stiffs like Myers stick around on a roster, the teams will have to pay them regardless if they’re sitting, playing, or even released. There was talk about sending Myers down last year, he’d have to pass through waivers (pretty easy to do since nobody would claim him) but it never happened. They’d still have to pay him.

Much to TTK’s delight (I admit I’m warming to the idea too), the DH might hit the NL as early as next year. Maybe he could be salvaged as a DH.

DH is a horrendous idea. It can stay in the A.L. because I don't watch that League, but don't bring it to the National League. The DH is even worse than signing Myers to that fat contract.

What's so bad about it?

I wish it could be so, but I’m done fighting it. Baseball is already ruined with the influx of this micromanaging sabremetrics trend that they rely on, it makes the DH sound downright traditional.

Specialist baseball sucks.
I think some aspects of it definitely do. I can do without the infinite pitching changes that leads to 20 minute half-innings and thankfully they changed the rules on that for this year.

Baseball ratings and attendance are declining. They need to change things to make the game more exciting. Having to watch pitchers desperately try to do something they're not proficient at is not good entertainment. We suffer enough trying to watch Austin Hedges hit a ball 3-4 times a game.

No rule changes. Just shrink the rosters to the point that there won't be pitching changes unless the guy on the mound is getting destroyed.

Baseball isn't losing ratings because of its rules, which have worked for more than 100 years. Baseball is losing ratings because the NBA and the NFL are marketed better. Madden football. Nike Air Jordans. Back in the day when I watched NFL games, I couldn't get through a half hour without hearing about how Joe Montana is the greatest player ever. In basketball, every Suns game I hear about LeBron and the Greek Freak and now Zion. Baseball doesn't hype its stars and doesn't have the name of some player or coach attached to something kids grow up wearing or playing. All baseball ever seems to talk about are the Yankees and Red Sox.

Yeah that and the massive imbalance of large market vs small market teams. Astros had to cheat to break the AL cycle of red Sox Yankees. I’ve pretty much given up hope the pads will be much better than last year already. No mas, no mas.
