If gore and weathers develop, the pen would be the perfect place. He can let loose for a couple of innings. You know you can count on him for 1 time through the rotation. Did anyone else notice that he velocity was down? I was wondering if
he has elbow issues as well and this is all a smokescreen to keep the truth from coming out?
Yeah good bet if his velocity is dowm he may be another elbow surgery in the making.

exactly. fans want scoring.
Yup , that is idiotic. They are making a huge mistake. Fans dont just want scoring, they want home runs. Will be particulaly bad for the Pads//petco, fuck. They should move the fences in at Petco in response. Eff them.

This one slipped through the cracks the other day but the MLB and player's association agreed to keep the seven-inning doubleheaders and runners on 2nd base in extra innings but aren't keeping the DH or expanded playoffs.

I think no DH and expanded playoffs hurts us a lot. DH rule would have been perfect since we have Profar and Kim and expanded playoffs since we have to knock off the Dodgers.

Bummer, they had the perfect easy in to standardize with the universal DH. This tells me it met a lot of resistance from the NL owners and getting it permanently installed in the future might be difficult. I don’t understand the logic in excluding the DH, even a curmudgeon of tradition like me enjoyed the DH in the NL.

I don't get it either. Why would the owners want their pitchers to hit? They stink at it and although probably low, just increases the chance of injury. Pitchers are already fragile enough.

I think this is a case of the big boys squeezing the little guys.

somehow teams like the dodgers want pitchers to hit.

also think it has to do woth squeezing the players union.

not having the dh, drives down costs.

Yeah, I think it’s a bargaining chip the owners don’t want to give away yet. Interesting that the AL isn’t allowed a +1 on the roster because a DH is usually a liability on the field, yet they’re classified as either an infielder or outfielder. My guess is at the next bargaining session the players will want universal DH with a roster expansion, so the owners will want something in return.

Padres sign reliever Melancon from the Braves. There seemed to be a logjam of relievers suddenly. Not sure that’s a “good” problem to have because many of these relievers cannot be optioned down to the minors.

85 milliom dollars from a panicked dodger
organization.

that was fast, his other article you posted suggested they may need to find relief help. maybe they don't feel comfortable with the logjam they have, a lot of those guys seemed to just be filling roster spots.....he is saying they want the competition in spring training....they need the depth everywhere if they want to overtake the dogs.

Dogs re-sign Turner. Kind of a hefty price, not just the salary but they are now in luxury tax territory. They will be taxed at a high rate and their draft place moves back ten spots.

the more they overpay for their offseason signings the better for us.

Never mind the subject of the article, I’ve pasted the last part. The Dogs were forced, by the Padres, to make this risky move, to put themselves in a position of “win now” with their future being the price they are paying. That is very telling IMO. Why would the World Champs do such a foolish thing, their chances of repeating already was a risky proposition.

If the Dodgers don’t shed any payroll, they will be taxed at a 42.4 percent rate. The Dodgers’ first-round pick in next year’s MLB Draft will also be moved back 10 places as a penalty. The Dodgers believe it’ll all be worth it if it results in back-to-back World Series titles.

Padres add another arm. Keone Kela.

Has closing experience
Ex-Texas Ranger
Has had recent arm troubles

The article touches on the logjam in pitching. Castillo/Morejon/Weathers might not have a spot since guys like Stammen cannot be optioned down and would presumably be released (meaning the Pads eat their contract).

Sounds like they are getting a huge amount of competition in spring training at the pitching positions, all except for closer. I'm not sure I'm good with Pagan. He's sucked, what makes them think he's suddenly going to be a top closer. Without a top closer it's like making all these great moves and leaving a hole in the roster. WTF. I don't know what choice they had. Can they still sign Rosenthal or is he gone???? I'd feel a hell of a lot better with Rosenthal (even though he choked in the playoffs but otherwise was stellar) than Pagan right now. Maybe Pagan proves me wrong, but damn he didn't inspire a lot of confidence nor did he strike any fear in the other lineup.....gotta have a badass in there. Pagan just looks like he's in outerspace, where is the intimidation factor? I'm open to it but he's got a HELL OF A LOT to prove IMO.

Rosenthal is still available and I wouldn’t be surprised at the end of the day they re-sign him. No way they go into the season with Pagan as the closer without some kind of competition. Maybe if we had Balsley to guide him but he’d probably try to mold Porn Star or Austin Adams into the closer rather than Pagan.

So no one has the stones to bring up the elephant in the room?

The death today...

of Tebow's baseball career?

TT says he feels "called in other directions."

AAA pitchers will (eyeing his.163 average) surely try to call him back.

Seattle fires their CEO. What a fucking tool. Sounds like a perfect fit for the Chuggers, clueless idiot with an overinflated opinion of himself, sprinkled with a bunch of hubris.

I read his remarks. He was obvisouly told by the owner to cut salary.

he was asked a question about players learning english so he answered.

His comment about the japanese pitcher shows how cheap he is. Seattle wanted to pay for an asain scout and this dude needs an intepreter. The intepreter would cost 75k. To me, pay the money. seattle refused and his remarks suggesting about that the japanese pither language skills getting better when they refused to pay made him look like an idiot not a racist. big difference.

his comment about the spanish player was answering comments about language skills. once again, poor choice of words but he answered the question.

in comparision if i were asked anout my soanish speaking slills i would say they our terriblebut I am working on them.

my big takeaway that the seattle owners are cheap and this dudes job was to cut payroll.

his comments about players language skills were stupid, not racist.
