The Green Bay Packers today traded running back Samkon Gado to the Houston Texans for Vernand Morency.

Gado was one of the few bright spots in Green Bay's 4-and-12 season last year.

He advanced from the practice squad to become the team's starting running back.

Gado gained 582 yards on 143 carries and scored six touchdowns in eight games.

Gado will be reunited with former Packers coach Mike Sherman, who was hired as an assistant head coach and offensive line coach for the Texans.

Morency was a third-round pick in the 2005 draft. He played in 13 games, gaining 184 yards on 46 carries with two touchdowns as Houston went 2-and-14.
