ok GAWD it is up to you - FIRE MARTY TODAY!!!

leisure said:
Well AJ now is your time to shine. You have built this team through the draft and even leisure will admit you have put together a team full of exceptional talent. One thing you have not done is build the coaching staff as it was handed to you upon John Butlers death. (ya I know about Wade)

Your legacy will be in the gutter unless you get rid of the entire staff and start over with your own people. AJ you have been in the league along time and you should know where the hidden gems are. Last year young gems like Shawn Payton and Eric Mangini were plucked from obscurity. IT CAN BE DONE AGAIN!!

AJ forget the old has beens. Go find a young up and comer who will light a fire under these generation "Y's" that we have on our roster.

We need YOUNG coaches on the staff instead we have three "blue-hairs" in the key positions. Do you know New England's offensive coordinator is in his 20's?

Come on AJ call the press conference and make the move TODAY!!
This is a historic first. Bookmark this post.

I actually agree that the coaching staff now needs to be blown out 100%.

Marty is finished. Kaput.

Although I hate the feeling,

I think I agree.

except maybe Cam,

but Wade is just at much to blame for not having an answer for the last drive in the first half and the last drive in the 4th

no f'ing reason why we should not have stopped both those drives.

preperation,

and we had two f'ing weeks to get it done.

and,

cut that ***** Florance for his stupidity

As far as the coaching goes. It really comes down to whether there are better coaches that the chargers can land.

I'd have to guess the great weather and that the team has a ton of talent could lure some exceptional coach to san diego. But the trick is you don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water. WE will see. A.j. usually takes a week to let things settle down and then they all get together to figure things out.

It would probably be a bit uplifting to have a positive change coach wise. The question is are there better coaches out there that the chargers could land.

A.J. has been looking for the chink in Marty's armor to place the dagger and now that the wound of defeat is still fresh, he will strike.

I know they get together as you stated to assesss the year but given AJ's makeup, I bet he has a short list ready of candidates for the head coaching position. Shit is going down...

I noticed something else last night,

the sideline for the Pats looked calm, poised and in control

the sideline for the Bolts looked scared and confused

bottom line

Sacking Schottenheimer would not be right or fair - UT - Sullivan column

.....

When the Chargers' 2005 season ended, before the parking lot had a chance to clear out, team President Dean Spanos confirmed that Schottenheimer was safe for another season. Spanos declined to be so definitive yesterday.

“I'll tell you what,” Schottenheimer said. “We've been through 48 regular-season games (since the start of the 2004 season), and there aren't many people who have won as many games over the last three seasons. I think we've done a good job. I think this coaching staff has done a good job.”

Whether it's good enough to suit Spanos is another question. Whether it would be fair to fire a coach following a 14-2 season is a rhetorical question.

“But does it need to be fair?” Marty Schottenheimer asked. “Ownership has its privileges.”
I'm sure the brass has a meeting today. It's time.

Guys look at the whole league. For the most part the young coaches are doing very well while the old fvcks are stinking it up. This Y generation marches to a different beat. They are not like X-gen zombies.

Hell think about it....the Jets, Saints....even the 49'ers are improving leaps and bounds with their new YOUNG head coaches. Bellicheck is like 50 but his staff is in their 20's and early 30's!

OK who here speaks generation "Y"

An example would be a second half speech by the coach. The new coach would address the team with "Yo Hommies go out and kick some god damn asses" instead of Shotty speak "Young men at this juncture we need to play better"

I have never even heard of Generation Y ? :icon_huh:

Leisure does have a point. Marty is from another generation. If the chargers can find a coach that is as smart as marty but more intune with the young guys on the team now.

A fresh new smart outlook with the talent we have should be the ticket.

This team is now primed to be a very very good team what with maturing this year with the young guys.

You just made my point!!!!

Old fvcks like you (or Martin) don't relate to the young generation....This Gen-Y is similar to the flower children of the 60's. They llisten to no one except their own kind.
We had young dudes like Mike Reilly. That sommmabiatch never took his hands from under his armpits.

The problem I see with a younger coach is he will not have the respect of the younger players because he is not proven. Add the fact he is new to grabbing a man by the balls to get his attenton and you end up with a mess. :icon_eek:

I did not like the coaching carousel we had here after Coryell and Boss Ross. I like to know my Cheerios when eaten will crunch and not squish. I am not sure what that means but it means something to me as a fan.

Last night, with the sting of defeat still too painful to think clearly, I honestly did not know which way to lean in regards to the coaching staff. Today I'm still confused: did the players simply make too many mistakes (yes), or did the coaches fail to properly prepare our team for the hell they just experienced (obviously)?

Thats the problem I see with finding a new coach. The guys got to crunch and not squish when milk is applied.

Actually its a good point. And that will be the difficult with the coaching situation. The guy has to be an upgrade not a degrade.

Like I said look around the league....the young coaches are making statements big time! Hell even Mora Jr did great but had interference from a blue hair (the owner) who made him play Vick.

Don Shula and John Madden were hired in their early 30's and how did that work out? :icon_shrug:
How about Mike Singletary ? :icon_shrug:

I hate this shit. I despise it with a passion in canning the head coach especially with the stadium crap happening. This loss may have very well sealed the fate of the Chargers in the County.

Not a bad idea.

I also wouldn't mind them to check out chicagos defensive coach Rivera. He's turned the bears defense into a very good unit the years he's coached in chicago. But singletary would be interesting.

In AJ I trust.

Yesterday's loss was crushing indeed, but it's just another step on the road to the Championship. AJ will make the correct moves.

Mark my words - as long as AJ, LT, and Philip Rivers lead this team, we'll be OK.

Everyone else is an interchangeable part, more or less.

It will be up to the new head coach who is retained for his staff. Those coaches you mentioned may indeed stay but it should be at the head coaches sole discretion and blessings.

You should set yourself now. Spanos doesnt have a history of firing coaches who take his team to the playoffs. Odds are about 60/40 that Shotty will be back next season.

If Marty does get fired, I want a grinder to come in. Someone who eats, sleeps, and shits football. A no sleepin', all business, spends-very-little-time-with-the-wife-and-kids kinda' guy. Someone who will leave no stone unturned. A perfectionist.

Is Cam that kind of guy? I don't know.
He would seem to make the most sense at this point.

Wade doesn't strike me as that kind of guy. He's a good specialist, but can he get this team over the hump by paying attention to every detail?

Norm Chow? I dunno. He's never been a head coach at any level outside of HS.

Can AJ pull a Tampa Bay/Gruden maneuver and offer up some picks for a Jeff Fisher? Now THAT would be solid.

Pete Carroll? Would he be this kind of coach? I think he enjoys having spare time right now to not only coach, but also go to Costco with his wife at noon on Sunday.

People throw around Jimmy Johnson's name. He ain't leavin' that cushy studio... is he? I don't see it.

One guy that is out that who really intrigues me is Mariucci. Would he be right for a team like this? I think he would if Cam takes another gig.

Stepping off the podium now. thanks
