Nicely done SandyBob........... can't believe you sat up all night just to post on time you whacker !!!

Agree with Cheapseats above.......

Show us something that resembles a "running game" and some good ol' nastiness on by both Lines, that will satisfy my appetite this week......
Good job Sandolph. Hey Jack! Long time no see.

All in all, we looked pretty good last night... a few things to iron out, but no major problems.

Looked like the Chargers got more out of the 2 days of practice against eachother before the game.
Only negative I could see was our running game, especially first team. Also, Tolbert has to hold onto the ball. With Sproles gone and no clear cut replacement for him as of now, Tolbert is going to get the ball a lot this year so he has to keep the rock secure.

Todman is the Sproles apparent. We will have largely a two back attack with Todman being the third back/third down back. (I believe/predict)

Ryann had a five yard average and Todman had a 5.4, not bad for how y'all make it sound.

Things I saw and liked:

-Liuget- is FAST, he's not your prototypical 5T that holds the point of attack and finds the ball, he has one mode and thats GO. Manusky's philosophy is way different from Riveras, he's much more agressive and likes for his DLmen to penetrate and cause havoc in the backfield. I am all in on this as long as our ILB's can step their game up and fill like they need to

-Sanders & Weddle- Best safety combo in football. When you guys say your prayers at night, be sure to put in a little word for Bobby, if he stays healthy Weddle is going to have a MONSTER year. Weddle made a hell of a pick, read Romo perfectly sat down and closed in right at the perfect moment. Sanders still has it, just gotta stay healthy

Stuckey- Not gonna lie, wasn't expecting much of the kid, but he was flying around making plays. Made a great play in the endzone to deflect what would have been a sure 6. Good to see him coming along

-Vaughn Martin- Dudes fully dominating our opponents 2's. He's playing way more physical and looks like he's cranked up the intensity. Tossin dudes around and getting into the backfield, I think he's fully thriving in Manusky's D.

-Cam Thomas- I bagged on him for the Seahawk game but he redeemed his self last night. He was NOT getting pushed around, and in fact pushed the pocket nicely and even made some penetration. Great to see because I still have some ?s about his motor.

-Defense- Our D is flying around and gang tackling. They are creating more opportunities for turnovers and it just seems our basic fundamentals are in tact. I am very excited to see how we do when its really game time.

-Mathews- There were a few plays I felt he was hesitant. In fact, quite a bit of plays it seems like he was just rumbling along with the O line rather than hitting the hole with conviction. However that TD run was nice, I think he's in the middle of re-building his confidence after a rookie season that he struggled hanging onto the ball. I think once he re builds that confidence, he will be hitting the holes with a bit more fire and creating more big play opportunities. -- Oh yea, say a prayer for his health too :p

-Rivers & VJ- If you play fantasy, I'd highly advice finding a way to get these two on your squad, especially in a PPR league. Their chemistry is beautiful, I am excited to see how much damage they do this year.

-Special Teams- It's alwasy nice to start off witha 36 yard return. Imagine if we woulda canned Crosby after the _3rd_ blocked punt last year... ay yi yi.

Things I am concerned about:

-Run blocking- It sucks, to be quite frank. We will see if it improves with some more reps, but these guys need to get to work up front.

-Larry English- wtf? I am sorry, but I am REALLY close to calling this dude a bust. Gamble out played him without a DOUBT last night. He seriously looks lost out there..Not good.

-Laurent Robinson- Dude sucks. Fast, tall, butter fingers. Honestly he's hoggin up time where we could be seeing Walters and Goodman. They need to cut this cat asap.

-Inside LB's- Butler and Spikes were taking schitty angles. If our DLmen are going to be shooting gaps and penetrating like that, these dudes need to get it together or Weddle/Sanders will be leading the team with tackles again..And that isn't a good thing

-Tolberts fumble- CAN'T happen. Straight up. I dont care who it is, we HAVE to take care of the ball. Other than his fumble he looked like his normal bruising self, and in fact looks like the most patient of our backs. He made a couple nice cutbacks for extra yards and of course mowed a few DBs for extra yardage as well. He HAS to take that fumble to heart, not a good thing to happen this early..Pre season or not.

Overall I was very pleased. I sat there with a schitt eating grin watching our DL just obliterate the 2's of the 'Girls.

Check out the Dallas running play about 3:32 left in the 3rd. Watch Coop WHIFF. Looks like this injury means he is history, no loss on the field. Maybe he can become a coaching assistant.

Some other stuff I noticed/liked.

What is it with Dombrowski, he definitely has the size and physical ability to play Tackle but he seems to get off balance far too easy. Yes it was Ware rushing him but he doesn't seem to be getting the footwork down.

They had Vasquez & Green rotate at RG with the 'One's' each series. Big battle on there. Green seems to be even bigger than last year and moves quite well.

I like the look of Wallace. If he can play STs this guy might stick. Not afraid to hold back when coming forward to meet the RB. Mouton likes to hit too. Seems more physical i.e. bigger than Butler. Butler might be a new Burnett. He'll need a hitter alongside him i.e. Spikes or Mouton.

Gotta repeat what I said elsewhere ref Vaughn Martin. This guy murdered the Dallas 2's. He was swiping guys out of his road. One handed he flung the Cowboys RT to the ground at one stage. 2's or not this guy is ready to start ahead of Castillo. No wonder the Dallas media were seeing him in practice asking 'who the F is this guy?'.

Todman will be just fine as the 3rd down/Sproles heir apparent minus the return game. Tolbert is going to be a big factor in the passing game believe it or not. He is open all day out of the backfield and lays the wood all the time.

Walters could be the man when it comes to punt returns especially. I'm not overjoyed at the thoughts of Cason (good as he is) doing it. Goodman is trying hard in the passing game too, if we'd not drafted Brown both these guys could have made the team.

Saw Gilchrist miss an easy tackle on Felix Jones that Jammer makes all day. I'd been reading how physical the rookie was. We need to see it.
