Anyone care that it looks like the MLS will indeed be expanding into San Diego? Apparently a civil war is brewing between fans of the current local “football club” the Loyal and, I’m not exactly sure, the MLS and the investors? The Loyal are mad at someone, they could be forced to disband and their fans are loyal (no
Pun intended).

It ain’t my money and I really don’t care about soccer, but at the end of the day, having a major league club over a minor league club is a no brainer.

San Diego is 'expected to receive an expansion MLS team'

San Diego expects to receive the long-awaited news that it will get an MLS expansion franchise by mid-May, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

YES! MLS will be big in San Diego. Despite our market size, we typically have high TV viewership for big soccer events.

The Wave is getting amazing attendance. Our MLS team will likely do even better!

Have you heard about the gnashing of teeth by the Loyal fans, they’re bitter at the prospect of having the Loyal be disbanded. Might be a good idea for the MLS owner to absorb the Loyal and call the MLS squad the Loyal and maybe adopt their philosophies (they openly embrace human rights, etc.), they already have a pretty good fan base and franchise culture they could build upon.

I have not been following the Loyal but that doesn't surprise me. They've invested themselves in that team now, just like any fan does.

I really don't like the Loyal name or branding, etc. Plus they call themselves Loyal SC. WTF, no one uses SC over FC. It sucks for their existing fans but I really hope this team comes up with their own identity that is something much better.
