Latest rumor from ESPN insider.

<Apr. 18> The more you hear out of the New York Jets, the more you get the feeling they may not take Leinart, writes ESPN.com's John Clayton. The Jets have Chad Pennington, Patrick Ramsey and Brooks Bollinger, and while that might not be enough if Pennington can't come back from shoulder surgery, the Jets are giving serious consideration to taking a position player with the No. 4 pick in the draft.

Leinart's visit to the Saints this week creates an interesting scenario. Even though the Saints aren't expected to draft a quarterback with the second pick after signing Drew Brees, they need to establish reasonable doubt in the teams looking for quarterbacks to create trade talk.

Clearly, New Orleans would prefer a non-quarterback after signing Brees, but his contract is structured in a way that the team can get out of it after one year. Nevertheless, if the Saints can be convincing about creating reasonable doubt about the No. 2 pick, they could get trade offers.

I think this is BS

You don't give Brees the money the Saints did and then reinvest that same amount of money in a rookie QB unless you've lost your sanity

Well, the Saints do have the option not to pickup Drew's contract next year, so there is still that possibility that they could bring in Leinart and have him sit for a year or have him play if Brees doesnt comeback at 100%.

I really don't see the Saints passing up Ferguson. But they don't call them the "Aints" for no reason.

Their gonna take Leinart regardless. Brees contract is a joke. He'll be there for one year than get traded right before the bonus. Leinart starts and the Saints could get a good trade off. It's perfect. This was well planned because if Brees, says take them to the superbowl, then they keep his contract and trade off Leinart for an even better price. AND ANYONE WHO DOESN'T THINK THE SAINTS WILL DRAFT LEINART SOUNDS LIKE A RAIDER FAN. :icon_tease:

I see the Saints takng D'Brickashaw Ferguson. Yes, they're showing some interest in Leinart. I think it a ruse to get Tennessee nervious enough to swap picks and give them another draft pick so they can get Leinart. New Orleans gets D'Brickashaw Ferguson, who they want anyway, plus and extra pick.

If it isn't Ferguson it'll be AJ Hawk
Not a question in my mind Leinart isn't on their board
