Latest rumor from ESPN insider.
<Apr. 18> The more you hear out of the New York Jets, the more you get the feeling they may not take Leinart, writes ESPN.com's John Clayton. The Jets have Chad Pennington, Patrick Ramsey and Brooks Bollinger, and while that might not be enough if Pennington can't come back from shoulder surgery, the Jets are giving serious consideration to taking a position player with the No. 4 pick in the draft.
Leinart's visit to the Saints this week creates an interesting scenario. Even though the Saints aren't expected to draft a quarterback with the second pick after signing Drew Brees, they need to establish reasonable doubt in the teams looking for quarterbacks to create trade talk.
Clearly, New Orleans would prefer a non-quarterback after signing Brees, but his contract is structured in a way that the team can get out of it after one year. Nevertheless, if the Saints can be convincing about creating reasonable doubt about the No. 2 pick, they could get trade offers.
