The Associated Press reports the San Diego Chargers appear close to signing second-round pick OT Marcus McNeill, who is optimistic he will be in training camp on time. McNeill said Friday, July 21, "Hopefully we'll have everything closed out by tomorrow. My focus right now is to get a deal done so that I can get to camp and get started."

Cro-Mo signs on time or goes to hell !!!

He's not going to be the starting #2 CB for about 8 games anyway.

I think he can miss one day of TC without too much impact in the big scheme of things. :)

McNeill has a lot of work to do, and needs to be on time.

Then, Roman Oben needs to be in McNeill's ear all camp. Train that kid right.

Chargers | Cromartie knows the value of being signed
Sat, 22 Jul 2006 06:58:48 -0700

Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers first-round draft pick CB Antonio Cromartie knows signing in time for training camp is important. "If I miss one day, I miss like a week's worth of practice," Cromartie said. "I can't take time off if I want to be the best cornerback in the NFL." He also knows the NFL is a "business." Two days remain until training camp starts for Chargers rookies, and the team's first-round draft pick remains unsigned. Cromartie is looking for a deal in the neighborhood of what St. Louis Rams OT Alex Barron, last year's No. 19 overall pick, got (plus the requisite percentage increase). Barron signed a five-year contract worth just more than $11 million that included $6.53 million in bonuses.

Sounds pretty fair to me! My biggest problem with him possibly holding out is just that we took a pretty big risk on him and players too often don't show the rightful thanks for a team believing in them...that's my opinion at least.

McNeill will be signed because the team will be forced to sign him...simple as that.

If either miss camp I'll be pissed, reaaaaaly pissed!
