That's all I'm really going to say with today's hirings.

BTW, where in the hell are the mods? The 1st page looks like a war zone.

For once, I'm not gonna be one of those "the sky is falling" guys. I can live with Norv. I can live with Cottrell. I'm still glad Marty is gone.

I believe in AJ. If AJ supports Norv then so will I.

Brilliant! AJ is GAWD, and NORV was the chosen one to coach us to our first SBizel.

Right on guys, I concur.

Hopefully this time next year, we'll be thinking about whether or not AJ's next move will be a step back after the Superbowl season we just had. :D

I do trust in AJ. That's why I expect instant results next season. He has done a marvelous job thus far, and finally has the coach of his choosing.

some people have stated we might be 10-12 wins not 14
yeah well maybe, but the Colts and Steelers won with less so why is that a bad thing?

I don't expect 14 wins next season. What I do expect is a playoff berth and some playoff wins.

AJs obsession with Ted Cottrell just killed any dream any of us ever had of watching the chargers win a super bowl in our lifetimes

Norv. Say that five times fast, take a shot and a beer chaser, and join me in rooting for the Bolts next season. I think, due to the more difficult schedule, that there will be maybe 10 wins (as noted upthread), but the playoffs will be there, and the wins will begin piling up post season.

Norv Norv Norv Norv Norv.

Starting to get used to it...........

I have trusted AJ so far, I will trust him in this as well.

Marty is no longer around to make dumbass decisions during crunch time and that alone is an improvement.

Now, I wonder if everyones favorite Special Team coach is going to still be around.

That's the battle cry. In AJ We Trust.

Obviously, whenever there's a chance for a new coach, we all want the sexy pick, the latest "genius." Instead, we get Norvell, who is not the most inspiring of public speakers, a two time failed HC who has proven to be a very good OC.

But Norv does a good job of developing offensive talent. He never had alot to work with in Washington or Chokeland. Their QB's always sucked.

I just have to put my trust in AJ. Obviously, enough people thought highly of Norv that he was almost hired to coach the 'Boys. Clearly, many still believes he has the chops to be a championship HC. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope to God he proves me wrong.

We're in a really bad situation right now and AJ put us there!!!

We have a championship caliber team with the worst HC in NFL history!!! Sure, I hope I'm proven wrong but that's like hoping to win the lottery.

If there is any coach capable of drilling this team into the ground, it's Norv!!!:icon_evil: :icon_evil:

Well said, and I am SINCERELY trying to get on board. I need a day to let it settle. Rivers will benefit from Norv's presence, so at least that part is positive.

To look at this as a glass half full type of way, this team is self motivated. The star players are hard working blue collar types, so we don't need a guy that breaths fire and brimstone to come in here and motivate. That's a damn good thing, because Norv is completely uninspiring. That could be ok, though. Bellicheck is hardly a great public speaker/motivator.

As long as the team can stay focused and hungry, Norv should be a solid coordinator and game day tactician. The ingredients are all here, so if Norv was ever going to win, it's with this roster. Perhaps with the character and leadership in the ranks, Norv will shine.

At least that is what I hope.

Norv is going to pull a Bill Belichick just you wait and see guys. Cottrell is Crennel and hopefully Shelmon leaves and we hire a fat white guy to play the role of Charlie Weis :abq2:

Nah, we don't need a fat white guy. It will be like Bewitched when they changed Darrens and never made any mention of it. The role of Charlie Weiss is now being played by Shelmon.

There are some interesting parallels between Belichick and Norvell. Both were championship coordinators with no personality that failed as HCs. The difference in NE for Belichick was that he had an owner and front office people that he was on the same page with. Hopefully, the same thing happens here.

Some random thoughts.

A football team is not put together by fools who happened to luck into a little money and can buy players. A football team is usually put together by people who love the game, and are knowledgeable about it, and have been for many years. The Bolts are lucky enough to have something in place that should, and I believe will be, be special for the next 4 years, at least.

The future is the Chargers destiny to take, and I believe they will.

Talk about your new head coach as though he's a loser idiot. Talk about all the assistants he hires that are working their butts off as though they are losers.

You, friend(s) are the idiot(s). Not talking to anyone in particular, so please don't take offense.

The Chargers are primed and ready to beat the crap out of indy or the pats. The coaches that are being put in place have the experience and knowledge of how to do just this.

The Bolts are the best team in the league. I personally think that Marty would have led them to the promised land next year, but I am also convinced that the new regime being installed will do the same.

In the Chargers, I trust.

Plus it doesnt matter the NFL is rigged anyways. Its as real as wrestling.. They play the game but the winner is already decided.

His starting QBs as a Head Coach were Gus Ferrotte in Washington (who had his only Pro Bowl season under Norv) & Kerry Collins in Oakland.

As a Coordinator he had Troy Aikman in Dallas, Doug Flutie here, Jay Fiedler in Miami & Alex Smith in San Fran.

Now he gets Philip Rivers, and an experienced Tomlinson, not to mention a much better Gates than when he was here last. I like his odds of success here.

I too trust in AJ's judgement. He hasn't steered us wrong so far.

I expected that result even if the entire old staff remained.

Repeating 14 wins is damn difficult.

If Norv delivers a 12-4 season with the AFC West crown he will have vindicated himself.

If he steers the ship to a 9-7 record he should take the first bus out of town.
