Great post!
I'm assuming that you're talking about a Stadium/Casino combo structure somewhere in SD...right? Considering none of us were present during private discussions between the City and Spanos, it would be impossible to know if the idea was ever discussed, or which party would have been for or against such a project. I think I remember a Convention Ctr./Stadium combo was being discussed at one point, so the idea of a multi-use facility was definitely something that was on the table; but a "major Casino"?? That's something that often faces fierce resistance from certain communities, and I don't know if SD had/has the appetite for it...even if it makes perfect financial sense. Frankly, I don't know if a Casino in partnership with "interested parties of Vegas" would've helped his case with the City who still had to chip in with the LAND. Imho, never owning the land to build a stadium on was the main impediment in his "efforts" to build something in SD...and his unwillingness to acquire the said land in SD, as he did for his bid for the move to LA says all I needed to know about his motives all along.
Staple Center recently sold its name....eg naming rights....for $700 million. Think a Casiono would not have found the land for a gambling infused stadium plus a named MGM Gold Football Center? With not only the ability to bet Football, but 24/7 sporting events, esp. futbol, world wide?
Deano could easily have gotten a new, out of LA and out of Kroenke's turf, funding. They could have sold 5% of the the team and tripled their personal worth.

Jonah Kari had it figured out in 2017.

Yes, of course one of the major Casinos could've found the land for what you describe...but my point was that such a proposal wouldn't have flown back then or even now. The interests that you talk about wouldn't pour that kind of money in to a venture so that some son of goat herder who has fallen ass backwards on to money all his life can get even richer; they would want a part ownership. We all saw what happened with Anschutz in LA and Adelson in LV, and why those deals ultimately fell apart.

And you know what happens when you bring one these guys in as partner....don't you?

"Fuck you...Pay me...."

Coach Faded, leaving his best player on the sidelines. What's next?
I flick the ball back to the college boy?
Quite the opposite...
I think FB and the rest of the team are saying that you're too valuable a player to be fielding punts!!

You already play Offense and Defense for the "hate" team...at a Championship level!!

Good point , Coach. Just remember, I can drop-kick a field goal from 45 yards out.
Maybe a bit more cash and you'd gain a roster spot. My day job wants me work a different shift, might have to cut practice on Thursdays.

Practice? I was going to say what if there was a game on Thursday?...but then I remembered they weren't invented yet!

Folks have to understand. The Chargers losing football games is a skill,
not something to be made fun of but rather to be admired and appreciated.
It is an art form.

Claiming they are just blundering football losers is like comparing gymnastics to
Cirque du Soleil. They know more twists and turns to make one wonder, every year, how the heck did they do that? They did that because they are the Chargers Cirque du Soleil, other NFL
Teams are just trampoline players.

You're stunned. You should be. It's fantastic..

That's another easy game day check. You'd think for $102 million guaranteed you would
at least get your shots. But then, Freedom has no price tag.

Edge rusher Joey Bosa, center Corey Linsley, defensive back Kemon Hall, cornerback Tevaughn Campbell, edge rusher Chris Rumph II, wide receiver Andre Roberts and defensive back Trey Marshall became the latest players to be added to the Chargers’ COVID-19 reserve list.

Chargers coach Brandon Staley ruled out Bosa and Hall for Sunday’s road game against the Houston Texans. Staley said the other players on the virus list were day-to-day for their game status.

Bosa is unvaccinated and that could be why Staley quickly ruled him out for Sunday. Unvaccinated players who test positive for COVID-19 are required to quarantine for 10 days.

easy solution for the league if they want to keep the chugs competitive.....put off the game for 10 days LMAO. That'll be next. What an effing mess. This season of 17 game has come down to covid roulette. Nice. Last year was at least halfway truthful....they shortened the season and kept people out of the stands and had very strict rules for players...pretty much kept them in a bubble and kept the schedule within divisions and limited plane flights etc. Now it's have a zillion positive tests (not necessarly meaning shit) and revising rules and protocols as they go to make sure the show goes on and the SB is played ultimately. Friggin joke.

And this is the mess. As in other years, you have about four, maybe five, good teams worthy of the playoffs, AFC. Patriots, Bills, Chiefs, Titans, Colts. In the NFC, Rams, Packers, Tampa Bay, AZ, and maybe Dallas. That's it.
10 teams. With WC 6 and 7....it's weak, confusing and not equal. Should two 12-5 teams in one conference....one gets a week off, and one less game.
At the Super Bowl halftime, I'd like to hear from say 5 NFC and 5 AFC players how they avoided the Covid restrictions during the season.
That would be more entertaining and better than floating balloons
and terrible audio for singer's vocal attempts.
