SAN DIEGO -- Shaun Phillips' balky walking boot tells the severity of his calf injury. But Phillips wasn't wearing a long face to accompany it.

It was feared Phillips, who was hurt in Sunday's loss at Kansas City, would be sidelined for four to six weeks. But an MRI Monday showed the muscle wasn't torn, and Phillips' time being down could be two to four weeks.

"It's not as bad as we thought,'' said Phillips, who entered Sunday's game as the AFC sack leader with six. "Playing with pain and playing with discomfort are two different things. I can play with discomfort all day, but pain ... it just isn't smart. You don't want to do nothing that is going to affect your career for a long time.''

Phillips, a third-year pro, moved into the starting lineup after Steve Foley was shot by an off-duty police officer. Before his injury, Phillips was enjoying a solid season with 28 tackles, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery to go with his sacks.

Now it's Marques Harris' turn to shine.

"Shaun Phillips is a perfect example of filling in and doing a good job,'' the 6-foot-1, 231-pound Harris said. "And I want to do the same thing. I want to show the coaches they made a good decision in keeping me.''

I've liked Derreck since I saw some nice play from him during preseason.

He and Dobbins combined on some nice hits and tackles.

Polarris to the rescue! :icon_wink:
heck yeah, I am adopting polarris

I am happy that harris will get the start over polk. Harris is a much more pure pass rusher then polk will ever be. Harris has also been playing OLB in our system for more then a season now.

Yeah, and the Bolts just cut Speegle and signed Akbar Gbaja-Biamila.

Akbar is a poor man's Carlos Polk.
