Raiders giving Fonoti a look:
The Raiders are looking at Vikings guard Toniu Fonoti and should wrap up a one-year deal to sign him in the next day or two. Fonoti is a natural fit for Oakland's offensive line. First, he's big -- 6 feet 4, 349 pounds. He's one of the best -- if not the best guard -- available in free agency. Fonoti is looking at a one-year deal so he can try to hit a big contract in free agency in 2007.

I still like the big guy. I think AJ gave up on him WAY too soon. But then again, I dont know why they got rid of him.

Fonoti can be one of the best when he's on his "A" game. The guy just had so many personal probems. I'd wish him luck, but if he's going to be a Raider, I'm expecting him to self destruct.

Fonoti isn't going to be a raider after all. According to this article, he failed his physical.

sfgate.com article

Team passes on Fonoti: The Raiders briefly considered signing former Vikings guard Toniu Fonoti, who visited the team Tuesday. Fonoti, the Chargers' second-round pick in 2002, failed his physical.

Fonoti, whose weight has approached 400 pounds, was traded to Minnesota last season but reported at 385 pounds and was recovering from a broken hand. He finished the season on injured reserve because of a groin injury.

Poor Fonoti. He just can't keep his hands out of the cookie jar! :lol
Man, a guy like that with all the tools to be an all pro. Some people are genetically predisposed to be heavier, but with the money he's making, hire all the weight management people you need to help you. How did he keep in shape in college? :icon_huh:
