Foley's prior run-ins with police have resulted in one conviction

Chargers linebacker Steve Foley has been arrested at least five times since 1999, including three times when alcohol reportedly was involved and at least twice when he scuffled with police or protested their treatment of him.

Foley has been convicted once; he pleaded guilty to drunken driving in Louisiana in 1999.

In the other incidents, the charges were dismissed or not pursued for various reasons, including an April 2000 case in which he mistakenly was identified as having fired a gun outside a nightclub in Monroe, La. Foley played college football there a few years earlier.
In that case, Foley was identified as a suspect by witnesses who apparently heard a bouncer yelling Foley's name and had assumed he had a gun, according to reports. The bouncer actually was warning Foley to take cover.

Foley was cleared of charges in the case after he was pulled over in his car and arrested. A police report stated that Foley was intoxicated and screamed at passing cars that he was being illegally searched by police.
