So am I the only one laughing as the Raider fans think they are on the road to the playoffs after their first pre-season game? I have seen a couple of boards and listened to some co-workers who think they looked great last night. I might have been watching a different game, but didnt the Eagles first team basically get escorted into the end-zone by the Raiders starting D? Did the Eagles first team even break a sweat? And Brooks got picked on a duck he threw in his third set of downs (Gained -5 yards in sets 1 and 2). Yes he managed to get a TD thanks to Garcia throwing a duck and Jordan getting a decent run against part 1st, part 2nd stringers. The TD pass was actually high and the guy was lucky to come down with it. Then it became a special teams game as neither offense could move. And the Eagles backups decided that it would be funner to just drop the ball and the ground instead of holding it. I might not be an astute observer of quality football, but I don't think the Raiders are headed for more than a 5 and 11 season with that offense and defense.

Well, if the Raiders can convince their opponents to only bring out their 3rd stringers, they can go 16-0!

When it was each team's defacto starters, the Raiders absolutely sucked eggs. Lamont Jordan got like -6 yards rushing on 6 carries to start and the Eagles ran all over them, with a running back that's not as good as L.T.

The 'Turds are once again the leading contender for last place and a top 10 pick in next year's draft.

When I was watching the game I was thinking to myself who the hell is on this team? Moss and that's about it. The rest of the guys seem like depth players on a lot of teams.

They're screwed.

Yeah, the Raiders first teams offense and defense stunk. Even Lamont Jordan said they had a alot of work to do. The Raiders got a score with their first offense against the Eagles 2nd string defense.

Their scrubs played pretty well but all that means is that their scrubs are better than Phillys scrubs.

Did'nt their Offense when it was starters on starters get a whoping minus 3 Yards in total offense?

And then on the otherside of the ball Donovan McNabb sliced them up like a hot knife in butter.

By the way, didnt we go 4-0 with a Ryan Leaf as a quarterback then we promptly when 0 and 10

5-11? I think you're giving the Raider to much credit.

Lamont Jordan is a good back, but he's got no line to run behind. Moss is fragile and it's about time for one of his meltdowns. Yup, they're screwed. :icon_rofl:

Galley looked like a bullfighter - "OLE" .....

The rest of the Faider OL was just as pathetic. Their DL got no push, and the Iggles easily chewed through the Choketown front 7.

I saw a KFFL blurb that showed the Raiders #1 offense was held to MINUS 3 yards vs. the Philly #1 defense.

Brooks looked average - nothing special. And they better hope he stays healthy, because Walter has pocket lock and happy feet, and Tui is just crappy.

The only thing the Raiders have a chance to win is the Grand Prize in the Brady Quinn sweepstakes.

That would depress me, to think that the Raiders could be in a position to grab Quinn next year. Well, I'd be happy the Raiders will suck enough to pick top 3, but unhappy they'd consider Quinn.

Hopefully, he'd go to someone like the Texans.

Brooks also threw a pick against the Eagles 2nd string defense.

For those that think nothing can be interpreted from the first preseason game, remember back to the '94 Hall of Fame game. The Bolts were playing. I can't remember the opponent, but I do remember Natrone Means breaking off a 40+ yard run on the first play from scrimmage. On the second play, Stan Humphries hit Shawn Jefferson on a post for six points. I knew right then that season would be special.

Buffalo, SF and GB should be giving the Raiders a run for their money in the chase to get the overall #1.

I don't know if SF would be willing to give up on Alex Smith just yet, nor Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers.

But yeah, Buffalo would be a contender as JP Lose-man just ain't cutting it.

I perused the Buffalo forums over the weekend and damn if they didn't have a bunch of Losman vs. Holcomb threads, like the Brees vs. Rivers threads.

Preseason games are about individual matchups.

The Raiders first stringers won few, if any, individual battles. That doesn't bode well for them at all.

More on Gallery. I like the fact that Shell and Slater are wasting so much valuable coaching time on one player. That means a lot of other things aren't getting done.

Gallery is work of art in progress - Contra Costa Times

CANTON, Ohio - His false-start penalty wasn't pretty. Neither was the third-down sack he allowed. But then came a sight for already-sore eyes in the Raiders' exhibition-season opener Sunday night.

Left tackle Robert Gallery took a seat on the bench and listened. Standing in front of him was Art Shell, whose bronzed bust rests nearby on a glass shelf in a little white building -- the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

"He reminded you of little things that get you in trouble," Gallery said of Shell's advice.

Shell's encore as the Raiders coach, 11 seasons after being fired from his first coaching stint with his former team, comes with another job requirement. He must be Gallery's shadow, and that's good, even if you think Shell has other things to do.

As last year's 4-12 debacle showed, it's important to solidify this offensive line, and turning Gallery into a quality left tackle is crucial.

.....

For 15 meaningful seconds, Shell addressed Gallery on the bench, about 15 seconds after Gallery got beat by defensive end Trent Cole, a fifth-round draft choice last year.

Cole was the 146th player taken overall, by the way. Gallery was the second pick of the 2004 draft.

.....

Helping him get the kinks out is Shell, not to mention line coach Jackie Slater, another Hall of Famer.

.....

Gallery's feet now have quite a new dance instructor -- Shell. Don't forget about Slater, too, who walked off the field with Gallery after the game.

.....

Gallery, too, will face great players, for the nature of his position pits him against opponents' top pass rushers, including the San Diego Chargers' Shawn Merriman in the Sept. 11 opener.

....

Left tackles aren't made overnight, and certainly not on this night.

I just don't want to imagine Laura Quinn-Hawk in a split Cheesehead/Fader jersey.

Quinn will just be another ND bust a la Rick Mirer. This guy is so coached-up it's not even funny. When he gets to the pros, where everyone is coached as well as he has been since Weis arrived, Quinn will mysteriously become mediocre.

Oh, and death to Notre Dame. :icon_banana:

Missed the game, but from what I have read, I didn't miss much.

Ahh the delusions of the Fader fan. They actually think they are going to be contenders? :icon_rofl:
