You folks are all thinking old school. The reason for these realignments is media rights power. Media money. TV...streaming......It’s a joke. Can you imagine SDSU in the SEC? They’d pretty much get steamrolled every conference game, only upside is Hoke would get roasted then fired. Likely scenario is SDSU to the PAC-12.
Real PAC-10 schools, absolutely. But if they were serious they would’ve snagged USC or UCLA or both. SDSU not a chance. You folks are all thinking old school. The reason for these realignments is media rights power. Media money. TV...streaming......
West
This is the direction to watch, and in many way makes the most sense in the short term.
Should the SEC look beyond Texas, where it has the Dallas (5) and Houston (8) secure, the next major markets in that direction geographically are Phoenix (11) and Denver (16), which translates to Arizona State and Colorado. It would also open the door to California.
Consider this option for the SEC: Adding four teams from the Pac-12.
Phoenix to Seattle, which has been a common trip for years in the Pac-12, is roughly 1,100 miles in the air, and 1,400 miles driving.
Phoenix to Birmingham is 1,400 miles, just with more time-zone changes.
In college football, more time-zones can be a good thing, because they can help provide more broadcast windows. With the West Coast teams the Big Ten has the ability to offer games at 11 a.m. CT, 2:30, 5, 7:30 and even 10 p.m. if it wants.
To take the speculation to another level, if the SEC absorbed four Pac-12 programs it could keep the east and west divisions with 10 teams in each. The dividing line could be the Mississippi River.
The idea is more than plausible.

Bingo. The only school that mattered was usc. Ucla was part of the packaged deal.Real PAC-10 schools, absolutely. But if they were serious they would’ve snagged USC or UCLA or both. SDSU not a chance.
The NFL does like the Jags, Texans, or Chuggers. But they provide media coverage over various time zone for more gambling.Bingo. The only school that mattered was usc. Ucla was part of the packaged deal.
i understand your point. Eventually the Big 10 and sec will drop the leftovers. The NFL does like the Jags, Texans, or Chuggers. But they provide media coverage over various time zone for more gambling.
If you are SEC and you need a West Coast team, you might use SDSU.
You know that Vanderbilt University is part if the SEC, right?
It's not quality, it's gambling visible product.
oh...and please get rid of the "Big Ten" and SEC monikers....how abouti understand your point. Eventually the Big 10 and sec will drop the leftovers.

Report: ESPN Rejects Big Ten's Final 7-Year, $380M Contract Offer for Media Rights

With the temperatures rising every year, it's pretty stupid to design a new stadium without some sort of shade covering for the fans. Still brutal for the players either way.In 100 degree weather, in the debut of a glorified high school stadium with no shade, against arguably one of the worst major football programs in the NCAA today, SDSU is already down 10-0.
if nothing else, the design of the stands lends itself to expansion to a Nascar stadium....to hell with football lolWith the temperatures rising every year, it's pretty stupid to design a new stadium without some sort of shade covering for the fans. Still brutal for the players either way.
Using their black uniforms instead of their away whites as their home colors. Idiots.100+ degrees on the field, some of the communications between the field and booth is not working, Aztecs decked in all black, Uncle Teddy complaining about the heat in the booth, down 31-10, priceless.
That's Brady Hoke for ya. Idiot is an appropriate descriptor.Using their black uniforms instead of their away whites as their home colors. Idiots.
that's a blast from the past....Rich Ohrnberger. And yeah Mission Valley sits down in that bowl and there can be little breeze, and kind of a temperature inversion. Just sitting in the sun in field or plaza level at the Murph used to be brutal this time of year. So can imagine the players sweating it out....rough go. And the chugs would ALWAYS wear white on hot days....I guess Hoke failed to get the meme LMAO. Jeebus what a doofus. And now you see why UM Alumnii still hate the guy lololol. How difficult is it to understand you put your team at a HUGE disadvantage wearing black (or any dark color for that matter but black the worst) in this kind of temp.....complete failure on his part.Rich Ohrnberger is the color commentator and he said he played in the Midwest, south Florida, in historically hot places, but he said the hottest place he played at was Mission Valley with the Chuggers. 121 Fahrenheit on the field, he took six liters of IV fluid during the game.
Just imagine, over 50 years since Coryell left and not ONE HC is even an iota of what Coryell was. Back then SDSU was a very respected football program and look at all the Coryell tree that came from that program......Madden, Gibbs, etc etc... many . Don Coryell was and is a legend and STILL has not been elected to the NFL HOF.Can we fire hoke now?
fucking a holes at SDSU can't even figure out how to help the elderly in wheelchairs. It's an embarrassment to the community to see that stupid high school stadium where a once proud stadium stood. Hoke, Snapdragon, Asstecs, SDSU, all deserve each other. Just the mention of that school and the sight of that stadium makes me nauseous. Minor league SD City Council let this happen. It all began way back around 2004 when they let Dean have an out on his lease and that ticket guarantee. It's almost as if they hated sports and the NFL and wanted to give them an easy path out. Of course Fabiani and Spenis took full advantage of the free pass. To add insult to injury the City Counsil relinquished any right to bring legal action against the Spanii for walking away from SD and moving to LA. St. Lous on the other hand is holding Kroenke fully accountable for his misdeeds. SD is a minor league town still and this rinky dink stupid stadium ia just an everyday reminder of how bad this city has been managed, to all who drive by it thru mission valley. All those asstec fans who went deserve what they got.....you spend money and give it to that greedy school , go suffer in the heat and I hope you got sunburned and had a completely miserable afternoon, and hope those seats give you sciatica. Stupid is as stupid does with this town. Here’s an account from someone who went to Crapdragon.
This review is for today's game, the first football game in Snapdragon Stadium. First there were not enough shuttles for handicapped people to get into the stadium from the trolley, so my octogenarian father/stroke victim walked all the way to the stadium with his cane. When they got there, nobody knew where section "WC" was, so he and my sister-in-law walked all around the stadium asking employees, who would pass it up the line, but no one knew where that section was. Eventually someone told them it was the wheelchair section, on the other side of the stadium. The seat numbers are not visible when someone is sitting there, but eventually they found their seats. Unfortunately, the people who were sitting in them refused to move, and the person helping people find their seats in that area either couldn't or wouldn't help them get their seats, so he just had to stand there. Eventually my sister-in-law found a folding chair for my dad, and they finally wedged it between two other chairs in the wheelchair section so that at least he could sit--but my sister-in-law had to stand in the back for the first three quarters. That section was shaded, but with a strong and very hot breeze, they were roasting. To top it all off, at the end of the game, they couldn't see any shuttles at all, so my dad had to walk all the way back to the trolley in the hot sun. Just a little more consideration could have made this a much better experience for someone who has had season tickets since 1965.
It isn’t even like it’s hard, the old dude had a marked ticket and nobody would help him claim his seat. What a joke. Or should I say Hoke?fucking a holes at SDSU can't even figure out how to help the elderly in wheelchairs. usually deals that happen this quickly and with very little foresight and planning and citizen input are payoffs. Someone got very rich in this deal....they should investigate every one of the city council members involved and check bank accounts and paper trails and find out just who benefitted.....of course the investigators are themselves corrupt and get paid off and most hate sports anyways....effing a holes.....politics has ruined SD and SD sports. The few benefit while the majority suffer, it's the way things are going right now. This is not democracy. The people of the entire county never had any REAL say in what was to be done with that land.....and they allowed spenis to taint the vote with his stupid greed and image so the average resident of the city would never vote anything that involved spenis, he was THAT hated here.....the city needed to step in and make sure they never lost the chargers and spenis should have been held accountable for what he did. Weak leaders and greedy leaders led to this. As far back as 2004 the council should have made SURE that lease could never be broken the way it was and that the bolt logo and colors would be city intellectual property forever, and absolutely never should have given spenis immunity from prosecution for abandoning the city. Ridiculous. Insane. Corrupt. Someone or someones were paid of on the city council to allow this to happen. No doubt about that. Asstecs were also involved in the corruption scheme to get sole control of that land. Greedy fucking bastids. Will NEVER EVER support them for that. Those that do are enablers of this kind of corrupt bullshit. It isn’t even like it’s hard, the old dude had a marked ticket and nobody would help him claim his seat. What a joke. Or should I say Hoke?
Totally agree with you in the other points, there was an old poster on the Powder Blues named Den60, he was an SDSU alum and he frequented the Aztec discussion groups, and even back in the 2000s he’d argue with the majority of Aztecs fans who wanted what ended up happening - for the Chargers to leave town so sdsu could get that land and their own stadium, they had no wish to share a stadium with the Chargers. They got what they wanted, the swiftness that the land changed hands, shovels turned dirt, and the stadium was stood up was stunningly fast, almost as if it was carefully scripted that way. Wouldn’t surprise me to find out that the city worked with Spenis to bolt to LA.
