lmao.......there has to be a contraction of Neanderthals.....kinda like the Nationals have Nats. What could it be? 'Thals??? Nanders? or the Padres have the Friars. They could be the Cavers. or Dentheads. For sure Peyton Manning could never be part of ownership. And they have a natural intead of the same old 'nation crap. Clevelanderthals. Logo could be cool:How the Cleveland Neanderthals.
Sounds like a series with Neanderthals would be scary and tough.
Plus, those damn Cro-Magans love to shove that rulebook that the Ns
can't understand up their enlarged nostrils.

Personally I think Dean needs to explore this idea to rebrand.. He's a perfect fit as are his sons. Missing half their frontal lobes. The LAnderthals!
Interesting that the Indians (now Guardians) could make their decision so quickly but the Redskins (currently the WFT) are dragging their feet.I actually dig it. Like the logo and the meaning behind the name.
I'm surprised they didn't jump on it quickly. They'll make a ton of money selling new merchandise.Interesting that the Indians (now Guardians) could make their decision so quickly but the Redskins (currently the WFT) are dragging their feet.
WFT is bogging itself down in the whole trademark controversy, but it didn’t stop Cleveland from grabbing “Guardians”, which is also a partial name of a Marvel Comics (Disney) property, maybe the biggest hurdle of everyone yet Cleveland prevailed. Methinks WFT is being obtuse about this purposefully.I'm surprised they didn't jump on it quickly. They'll make a ton of money selling new merchandise.
I would think at some point the team or media would figure that out and disclose it if that is the case. Whoever that is would certainly get an Art Modell type reception from CLE fans LOL. I'm sorry to disagree but Guardians really sucks IMO. Much of the fan reaction reflects that opinion also. Maybe it will grow on them as the article said but seriously, compared to many other possibilities that name just is very lame. Of course all this is subjective, kinda like art. Too bad they couldn't have made Spiders work. Really the old historical record has nothing to do with anything. It's the fact it is a terrific throwback name and plus the possiblities for logo and uniforms is incredible. Fans were truly wanting that very badly. They were treated like dirt. CLE fans are used to that though I guess, kinda like we had to put up with dirtbags like spanos and klein for years. Sad that some cities are the benefactors of truly incompetent ownership for their teams. This to me is justanother example of a slap in the face to CLE fans. Sad.My guess: someone owned the rights to Cleveland Spiders and wouldn’t negotiate. Another thing is the Cleveland Spiders hold the record for most losses in a season.
I don’t think Guardians is bad, it could’ve been much worse (like the Rockers).
