Chargers endure tough turnaround after loss

By: STEVE SCHOLFIELD - Staff Writer (nctimes.com)

SAN DIEGO ---- Want the definition of a grueling training camp? The Chargers played a night game in Chicago on Friday and got back to team headquarters in San Diego around 4 a.m. Saturday.

They received six hours of free time before attending a team meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, and were on the field for another 90 minutes starting at 4:30 p.m., to correct mistakes in the 24-3 loss to the Bears.

"I'm just glad this was a preseason game," Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer said.

One of the key plays came on the third play of the game when Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher picked off a Philip Rivers pass and raced 64 yards for a touchdown.

"He was waiting for Philip and set the hook," Schottenheimer said.

The coach was pleased about the defense, which gave up just 189 total yards.

"I'll take that during the regular season," Schottenheimer said.

Glad they went right back at it. I'm sure they were chomping at the bit to get back at it.

Nice to hear that McNeill went straight from the plane to the film room at Chargers' park to review a couple of mistakes he made.

I'm glad to hear this. That's what they should be doing.

And while they're at it, might as well work on special teams...

We'll see if that extra work to fix the mistakes works in the Seattle game.

Seattle's offense is a little more potent than the Bears.

However, their defense isn't.

Especially Crosby's. I'm tellin' you. Marty got amorous with a farm-animal once, and Crosby's got the pics.
That's the only reason I can think of why his sorry butt is still around!! :icon_evil:
