ha ha, damn straight....Coryell, Boss Ross, and Marty would have bitch slapped him good for that. Unfortunately most coaches nowdays are not able to really get on the players because they've gaines so much power via the huge contracts and so-called 'importance to the team' .....so via the NFLPA and just the team comraderie the players wield some control over how much they will take.....I rememer Parcels calling out players in the press, made no bones about it if a player wasn't performing he'd rip them a new one.
But I think it IS still done behind closed doors , the good coaches still maintain accountability and probalby ride their asses in the coaches office. I'd not want to be on the bad side of Bellichek for example. I don't know about Staley but think probably too young to do that sort of thing to a Bozo. Norv Away was totally inept at holding players accountable. After Marty that was a complete 180. McCoy, Lynn, all the same. Chug front office can never hire a tough as nails HC as that article posted clearly showed. Dean ALWAYS picks the most malleable HC , a yes man. Reid was the opposite and we see the results. Sirriani likely the same. Chugs could have had both. You gotta give the HC some control over the draft room. Norb was banned from the draft room lmao. If a HC is just thrilled to have a job and that's it , well huge red flag.
I was always really pissed when norb was about 5 years into it and under an extended contract and Pete Carroll became available to the NFL because of all the threats of sanctions and investigation of USC. I badly wanted spanos to just fire norb and hire Carroll. Ha ha ha..I was dreaming. No way cheap dean would eat even a year of a contract nor would Carroll ever accept working for that stiff who wouldn't give him contol of anything.

(BTW if Dak had been half a QB Dallas wins that game in SF, period. He lost the game for them. They were doing a hell of a job at the LOS on both sides. Dak killed them and wore out their D in the second half)
