most likely it will be Whitehurst, even though that wouldn't be considered a "big" departure

Better chance he's just talking about Whitehurst.

Though to us its not a huge deal, to a team like Arizona he could be their starting QB in 2010.

Wow I didn't realize Leinart was that bad:icon_rofl: I know the college playing field isn't exactly fair but how could someone that wins the heisman suck so much?:icon_huh:

Leinart will get a chance to win it, but I think in the right scheme Whitehurst could be very successfull.

Yeah the scrub! All he has ever done is hold Volek back! Volek would have won us 3 Lombardis and 2 Grey Cups by now! :icon_evil:

this is starting to look like "fire sale" with all the departures and only two token BS signings. We're getting broke dick guys and letting starters slip away.

I'm just frustrated because all we ever hear at this time of year is about players leaving the Chargers and every other frigging team in the league signing free agents... it's a crappy time of year.

I figured. Just making sure. Coming from the ESPN board, there are a few posters over there who do feel that way, and post it all the time. So just making sure he wasn't on that same level

The only player that has left that I am upset about is J-Wall. LT was ineffective due to age, blocking, and scheme, so I understand not wanting to pay $6 mil for him. I also understand Cro, because he sucked the last 2 years, and had too much baggage.

The move I just won't understand, is tendering Sproles IF he isn't traded or signed to a long term deal. If they pay him $7+ mil to continue the same role he was in last year (Which Kevin Acee said he will), then it is a total joke.

I expect Sproles to be gone by the end of the draft

Yeah I reckon Sproles will be the one to go. Having said that I'd love to see us get something good for Merriman before we lose him for relatively nothing after 2010 season.

The average fan doesn't even know who Whitehurst is, so I seriously doubt he is the big move.

Look for Sproles to go for a 2nd
Who would the trade be with? Can't be the skins any more, they got LJ.. It'd have to be either the seahawks (40), bills(41), bucs (42), or pats (44) and if the trade did happen, it'd be on draft day most likely. Maybe if Cody was still there at the 49ers pick (49), we'd trade to them but we'll see.
I'm thinking on draft day we can trade Sproles and our 1st for the 49ers 13th and snag Spiller...

He was definitely talking about the Chargers.

There's more to the convo but it's kinda random so I didnt post it - they were talking about KO or Trotter flaking on a golf tourney or something.

I guess Merriman would make big sports headlines but for anybody who knows football... no surprise. He's done. No steroids... No "Lights Out!"

Come on now. You know me better than that. RT @Prea51 I hope this "big departure" isn't Charlie Whitehurst
I don't understand twitter lingo very well, but it sounds like Trotter is saying ITS NOT WHITEHURST that he's talking about.

So why will we loose Merriman next season. You need to hold yourself together. First off the fact that you would be upset about him leaving means that he is near what he was this next season before the knee surgery.

Next you are assuming that a NEW CBA gets signed and I guess it is fair to assume that FA stays the same as far as the time frames involved. Then the Chargers would just Franchise Tag Meriman and we will retain controll of him. WE could actually do this 2 years in a row.

What is going on here is, Merriman wants a contract based on his performance before the surgery and the Chargers and AJ want to wait till Merriman proves on the field that he is back to full strength before they commit to a big money NEW contract. What that is called is sound business practices.

This has been the plan for over a year now, and with the uncapped year we recieved a one year extension at lower money than the franchise tag would cost. That savings on Merrmian could lead to the re-signing of one of our other RFA guys who we want to keep.

Even though you are part of the SKY IS FALLING crowd, this uncapped year is a true blessing and will enable us to keep any of our players we want to now.

What do you call a comment about trading Merriman before we lose him next year for nearly nothing is.

If you are not part of that group than rethink your post, you can't have it both ways.

Do you disagree with anything I pointed out regarding Merriman in my response.

I don't want Merriman to go. Like it has been pointed out before it takes two seasons for the knee injury to come back to form. I think the guy can still get close to what he was before.

Only way he goes is if we get a 1st and 3rd, in which I would be semi-ok with it..

To the poster that said the 'Skins wouldnt want Sproles bc of LJ, isn't completely right. They have Portis and LJ, what are they missing? A 3rd down, scat back that would be a COMPLETE change of pace. I think the 'Skins 2nd rounder is a serious possibility as far at the "Big departure"
