I love the “intergity fee” the NFL is floating, to get their get something for doing nothing greed.

Corruption? That's old school, now we call it fantasy play income.

And they'll put a 'warning label' on it from their attorney about you all getting yourself some help for your gambling addiction. End of legit sport reporting also. Every story will have it's isn’t secret source.

It's new crap coming your way...

“Our fans are involved, NFL fans are,” said Cowboys COO Stephen Jones. “And any time there’s a business opportunity out there, you have to educate yourself on it before you make decisions on whether we need to be a part of it. We certainly want our football fans to have the best experience. So if it’s something that we see as a positive for our fans, a positive for the league, and there’s no unintended consequences to it, then we’ll go further down the road.”

Cuban thinks sports team values will double.....perhaps, but I disagree....I see folks getting cleaned out betting during a Patriots-Dolphins game. 'Fans' will claim every missed kick is a fix or that team gave up.....a lot of young dudes are going to lose a lot of money. Imagine the Chargers game history, with betting allowed, yikes....biggest chokers.....anyway, who cares....lottery type news stories of man who made $12,000 during Bengals game....no stories on the 500 fans who lost an average of $1100 during the game. Again, who is physically go to the Inglewood Stadium and pay that thing off?

Oh...maybe the Spanni might have go toss in the towel for a few games to get that loan day payment from Vinny.

Funny how Cuban suddenly changes his tune re: the NFL, am sure he's as greedy as anyone else for this schit to happen.

Imagine a 'fan' reaction to this Goodell..... Patriots up on Jets 20-3....third down....five yard line...Brady has already thrown for 300 yards. Next betting cycle, play Pats fan wages $50 to get $65, if Brady throws TD pass. He goes back, throws a perfect pass to a wide open up Patriot...... who lets the pass go right through his hands.

Now your Patriot fan ( or any fan) is not happy. He just lost $50 bucks on a 'sure thing'. Now does he care that the Pats kicked the field goal and won the game 23-3? No. He will focus all his anger on the fix is in. Goodell hates us.
And the playoffs will be worse. Much worse. Dudes no longer care about wins and losses but money gains only.

    Kinda like the owners.

Please don't let the facts get in your way. Per vegasinsider.com, only 5 teams did better than the Chargers against the spread in 2017. The Chargers were 8-6-2 against the spread.

Chainny....please feel free to place your elite bets on your beloved team numerous times during a game next season.
Now, without even buying a game ticket or a plane ticket, you can 'put your funds where your opinion is' and make a bushel of money doing so. You claim to have a good finger on the Charger team and its abilities. Now, cash it all in.

I think I might put my rigged-NFL theory to the test if Vegas-like sports betting comes to Arizona.

It'll be on a NFL intergrity app. And no matter which way the play or bet goes, it will be rigged. Or fantastic. Depending on your gambling ability.

I will keep you updated on my bets if they happen. I won't watch the games, but I am good with further corruption of the NFL. The only caveat is all the money would have to go toward something that doesn't benefit the NFL. Oh, okay - second caveat. This can't be something with a bunch of service charges that suck up my winnings.

I will watch where the big bets are going (especially if those bets are moneyline on the underdog), and I will keep an eye on what team's victory would most benefit the NFL. I used to be pretty good at this when I lived next to casinos. In the end, though, I would lose because my biggest bets were on San Diego. My heart always got in the way, which wouldn't be an issue this time.

This will simply make a fan into a gambler. And most folks lose a lot, and the House never loses.

You have to win over 52.4% of the bets you place in order to run at a profit.
    Here’s why:

Sports books make you risk $110 in order to win $100. That extra $10 is called the vig, and as long as the book has an equal amount of money on either side of a contest, it’s guaranteed to make a profit. The math isn’t hard.

Suppose you place two bets. You win one and lose the other. You’ve won $100 and lost $110.

    Your net profit is -$10.
Suppose you own a sports book. Half of your 200 customers bet $110 on one side of the game, and the other half bet $110 on the other side of the game. You pay out 100 bets for $100, or $10,000. But you kept 100 bets at $110, or $11,000. You made a $1,000 profit.

It's a Money machne for sports leagues but a destroyer of any real fanship.
Can you imagine wagering on a Charger play?
If you bet ten times, you will lose at least six or sixty percent. And those losses are real dollars.
Come Monday, when you go back to work, and friends say,”Hey, your Rams won.”
And you'll say, “I lose $200. they ruined me in that second half.”

Ps I wonder how they going to treat first down penalties....if you bet $20 that Brady would complete the pass for 12 yards, but it wasnever thrown or thrown into the ground, DB called for holding...League/Vegas will call that a push maybe....anyway the Game is going to be ruined.

That's such an ugly term......:D [Yes.]

The guy who invented poker was bright, but the guy who invented the chip was a genius. –Julius Weintraub (1919-1997)
If casinos asked people to put cash on the table every time they wanted to make a bet, they'd make a lot less money. But turn that cash into chips, and suddenly it's a whole lot easier to push them into the pot or bet them at the roulette table. This chip isn't just a scheme to part you from your money, though: it also makes it much easier to keep games organized, and chips are much more durable than paper money, which could easily be damaged if it were constantly being passed around the table.

Used to hang out at a sports bar back in the day. Had a resident compulsive gambler with his bookee on speed dial. He would bet the over/under by half on some games. I once saw him go double or nothing on an overtime basketball game between two teams I’d never heard of —just because the game was on tv. He didn’t know the first thing about them, either. It was sad to watch, but he didn’t care. He inherited his wealth. I sometimes wonder how much $ he has left.

I don’t see any good coming out of this.

I am sure more legalized gambling will lead to more gambling addictions. We can just as easily see bad things happen due to legalized drugs, guns, alcohol, non-marital sex, abortion, porn, refined sugar, etc. It doesn't mean the country should ban any of it. The good you don't see coming is freedom.

Where did I say I wanted to ban it? I just said I don’t see any good coming out of it.

Even when it was illegal, some were already doing it anyway.

It is not a claim or an opinion, but rather a fact that on this website when the team was 3-6 in the 2017 season, I stated that the only remaining game the team would lose would be the game at KC. That is what happened. I was right. You others were wrong. Deal with it.

As for bets against the spread, my opinion (which is actually just an opinion) is that I could make a living at that, but I have chosen not to dedicate myself in that fashion for my own reasons.

Again, the Chargers went 8-6-2 against the spread last year, good for a tie for 6th in the NFL among teams versus the spread. Your 60% failure rate is not supported by the latest data.

That said, people are beginning to figure out what I could see last season--that the Chargers are a very good team. That may cause the spread for the Chargers as the favorite to jump up, making it more difficult for them to cover.

The loss is this....'fans' of teams will either bet for or against 'their' teams on the odds on a play.....the majority will lose money.

The 'fan' will no longer care if 'his/her' team wins, just that they succeed. Win the bet.

If you find better 'action' over at the Ravens-Bengals game, you stop watching your Dolts.
Which in and of itself, is not a bad idea, but hardly a fan base anymore.

Unless it was magically in stadium only betting, why go the game? Stay home, watch four games....bet on the play, care less about records or rivalries, or division game. Those things are dead. Gambling has killed them.
