I’m all in for that trade.
That trade is not happening. Angels are trying to trim salary and add prospects which we dont have. Our best bet is to sign senga now and wait for ohtani to be a free agent after next year. Dharvish and snell will be coming off the books.

Too late to use the crypto scam idea, that one has imploded. Hey, maybe they can do a Juan Soto clone scam where they sell used up sluggers for a wealth of cash and prospects?
I never really understood the bitcoin/crypto model. I give you money backed by a government and you give me something just made up.

Ohtani will never be a free agent. He is signed or traded.

yup, as the article said, that would be the least likely outcome because the Angels won't get anything other than a compensatory pick. lol. Ohtani is worth more than any other player in MLB right now and up til the trade deadline during 2023. If Seidler/Preller want to do something truly game changing, go pay whatever it takes plus soto. Problem is not enough prospects so gonna take a lot of dough plus some vets. But if you want to put together one hell of a pitching staff, sign Senga and get Ohtani...and you've also added another big bat, it's like a twofer. Hard to put a pricetag on a player like Ohtani. It would also expand Seidler's revenue base/market far beyond what he currently has....his market takes off in Asia. HUGE revenue increase not to mention selling season tickets for the duration of Ohtani's career with the Pads. Something to ponder. This opportunity will not happen again.

And I hope Seidler and Preller realize the Giants are not standing still and are very pissed about last year and how far they finished back of the Dogs after almost winning the division the prior year. So they are going very hard after Judge and probably also Ohtani if they can get the Angels to make the deal. If that happens well count on 3rd place for the Padres after all that trading that's been done and the talk about slaying dragons and winning for years to come and going to the WS. That is the other part of the equation and a big problem when playing in such a competitive division. You have to pay to play.

The dollar stopped being backed by gold for almost a century now and we've seen the effect of inflation because we've been printing money out of thin air since then. Crypto is supposed to guard against that.

The problem is that it all the Wall Street/venture capitalist goons came in and turned Bitcoin and other crypto into another speculative asset. And that spawned a bunch of scammers with get rich quick schemes. It's not being used now for what it was intended to be. Bitcoin still has the potential to fulfill it's destiny but it's going to take a long time for that to happen IMO.

The Angles are clueless. They should have traded Ohtani this past trade deadline. He had the most value at that point because you would have gotten him for a season and a half. Now it's a season. If they wait until the next trade deadline, he's a two month rental. They keep losing return on him the longer they wait.

that FTX crypto scandal may be the tip of the iceberg......rumor is that Tether, an ALLEGEDLY stable crypto coin is actually another huge scam not backed by an audited asset so if that falls watch out....it's 3x as large as FTX and more widely utilized. Lots of this shit is used yes by the black market of cartels and terrorists and also by allegedly reliable institutions which are actually involved with fraud, you know like the CIA etc . Supposedly this stuff is regulated by the SEC. It's a joke however...they wanted to have this idiot who scammed everyone with FTX help them regulate the crypto market lmfao. Scammers operating pretty much everywhere.....and to do a paper trail audit requires actual honest folks at the justice dept level.....that is an oxymoron. Never gonna happen.

At first I thought I missed out on crypto....now look at all the folks who have been scammed and what they've lost. Dodged a bullet. But I usually never invest in something I don't understand. Tom Brady lmao

Would not be surprised if all this mess is just a cover for the cental banks to end up issuing a digital currency of their own. They want this to fail most likely.

yup, Ed Dowd who managed a portfolio for Blackrock is predicting a huge recession and crash because of stuff like this. He pretty much echoes what you say....the credit cycle due to the fed and central bank policies goes from QE and easy money (which inflates assets and creates bubbles and more importantly fraud in multiple markets with scammers as we've just seen) to QT (which they are having a tougher and tougher time doing given the amount of leverage (debt) in the system now compared with say the 70s when it was actually possible to raise interest rates up into the high teens. No longer possible..that would implode all the world banks and economies.....so we are stuck now thanks to endless ridiculous spending and creating paper money (fiat money). Get ready for real pain.

Smart ass, crypto FXT spend a lot of someone's money to show a SB commercial
where by the "old guys (and their modern counterparts )" were so wrong, so misguided.
But as Larry said, "Nah......I don't think so. And I'm never wrong about this stuff. Never."

The Same Folks who brought you Wells Fargo and other big hits.

In the 1980s, deregulation and desupervision of U.S. savings and loan organizations led to a collapse and subsequent bailout which cost the American taxpayers an estimated $300 billion.

Digital coin...self regulating I reckon, like Vegas.

yes like Vegas.....house wins on all pyramid schemes. They wanted this guy Fried whatever to assist them in setting up a regulating system for crypto lmfao. Seriously, they wanted the scam artist to help them regulate his own business. Beware of blackboxes that they try to convince you are the wave of the future and will revolutionize the world. Another guy who is right on the border of all that is Musk......Twitter might be a candidate for bankruptcy. But the crypto world is the shakiest in the near term.....if the so-called stablecoin Tether collapses watch out. 3x the size of FTX. And this is exactly what happens when fiat money allows central banks to just print like hell and create money out of thin air.....easy credit gives rise to all these get rich quick schemes using other peoples money. Hope they find the paper trail as far as it leads and all the crooks are locked up...but doubt that happens because the CIA and DOJ and FBI are likely all implicated too lololol.

You were real good, Gilly, till you went all Deep State with the last line.
Scheme, pyramid, etc...it's all based on people wanna get rich quick when
that is not logical or possible. Can you get 18% on your money? When the best interest earning is 2.1%? No, you can't. Unless you let me convince you, you are special and this is a golden opportunity for those courageous enough to dare to try. It's guaranteed.

the CIA is just as good at hiding where money goes as anyone else....think of it as undercover work. There is a feeback loop of FTX to Ukraine for example. Another scandal....check it out....you gotta dig deeper sometimes to figure out who is scamming who. And there are those who WANT the current cryptos to blow up so they can bring in their own ....it's about control, power. Those things become more important to those who never are satisfied with just gazillions in money. And would you be shocked if the CIA were meddling in other country's affairs and attempting to overthrow regimes and putting in their own? So they need to launder the money they use to do that. Undercover, deep, where you can't see em.

KInd of like the NFL needing more power, just a different type of ballgame. Maybe NFL will come up with their OWN crypto....the Jerrah coin.

No different than when bush sr was using nerioga to buy guns for the Sandinistas and allowing him to ship cocaine to the USA. Noriega went down because he didn’t want to play ball anymore and the drug trade was out of control in the us. Crack was an epidemic back then like fentanyl is today. Plenty of people getting fat off chinas cash to allow shipments of fentanyl to come in to the us. The border would be easy to shut down if they wanted.

Imagine both senga and ohtani on this roster. Would have to trade soto to get ohtani. Do it. That is a splash trade i could get behind in in instant.
Since
Ohtani is a pitcher as well as a hitter, what pitcher are you going to give up?
Musgrove? Darvish? What if it was those plus Tatis?
I don't see it happening. Ohtani is going to get. $30 million just in arbitration.
What if part of deal is the Angels want to send you Readon for Manny. (36 million to $30 million)?

It's anice idea but the gain vs. cost is very dicey.

Agree, however you gotta remember the precise reason the Pads were condidered as a potential landing spot for Ohtani IF (huge if) he is traded this winter. Padres are not one of the TOP favored spots however they are in that tier 2 by themselves......reason?......PRELLER.......he is known for 'dicey' trades and risk taking. So would not be a surprise to them if the Padres wind up making a huge deal to get Ohtani.

My big concern is if the Gnats end up with both Judge and Ohtani. That would be just as dicey a deal as if we sit still in relation. They were only , what, 3-5 GB us in the regular season standings? That would put them somewheres up close to the dogs I'd guess. So if for some reason Soto doesn't return to 2019-21 and Tatis doesn't return to Tatis.....we might be 3rd place

Re: giving up a pitcher.....if they insist on one of those you mention, I'm not devastated, Senga would have to be part of the Padres plan though. Otherwise yeah, we get a pitcher only to give up one. Remember , Darvish is coasting down towards the twilight of his career. Ohtani and Senga in his place? A no brainer if the Angels want that as part of the Ohtani deal. But you are right, it's ALL dicey when you start throwing around huge names on both sides of a deal. If we let Soto or Tatis go and they go ballistically good, we could be sorry. Risk is all part of the equation....but no risk, no reward as they say. Pay to play.
