Yes, both guys were on the roster. Jones was never the same after his 1976 Cy Young season, he screwed up his elbow that year and it required major surgery. In 1978 the team had their first winning record under Roger Craig but Kroc fired him a year later. They never won because outside of Dave Winfield they had no offense and despite having two Cy Young winners their pitching staff sucked.

I don't know, his home is there in the bay area.....I think he wants to be there. I mean if he turns down the Yankees top offer and they are willing to beat the gnats offer and he STILL turns it down? Stupid IMO. how do you know he wouldn't want the max contract from the giants? But agree on a personal note for him yeah I can see why a hometown team would be one he'd prefer all things equal... (and.even if they are not like Joe did.) But I pray he doesn't end up there...it's just gonna be a lot harder for the Padres if he does.
