Garcia good job, whew. My concern is Hill is going to come on. Next pitcher key. We have to get to Rogers.

I wonder if they can substitute in a juiced ball if a team is down and they want to tighten the score to keep the viewers interested and for gambling purposes. I know it sounds like a conspiracy theory, but what's to stop that? Unless they have a set # of balls to play the game with , all examined beforehand and they just put them in a hopper and pull at random.
You can rig the game for any team's favor with juiced balls. I wouldn't put it past any league to do that.

And hopefully give Rogers a 2 or 3 run lead to protect, especially the way the ball is flying tonite!

The announcers said that Wilson is warming up in the bullpen.
better than Hill but he's had some inconsistency as well, just not as bad. Nailbiter. We went down easily in our half of the inning so no insurance at all, this is gonna come down to the wire I'm afraid.

Well we look like champions tonite.......despite suarez attempt to give it away and the botched fly ball. We won going away. That's big against Fried and the Braves. Pedal to the metal. No let up tomorrow. No Paddy Daddy celebrations.

I am mvp. Thank you.

6-4 game over.

Lol.
ha ha.....no doubt. I sort of had given up at that point too lol. Pads were a pleasant surprise tonite in a game against the defending champs, in their crib, on national tv. Bigtime. I still don't believe we won going away by that big a margin. The boys done good. No question Kim was the star but we had a lot of contributors , Voit , Hos, all over the place guys would reach and this is a game we didn't leave that many stranded....it makes a huge difference. Yu pitched a great game only to have Myers/Hos botch the fly ball and cause him to be pulled. I think the most pleasant surprise other than the offensive outburst against a good Braves pitching staff, was the backend relief (other than Suarez).

and here's how fickle BB can be: On a night we had perhaps our finest offensive showing , Manny had one of his worst nights...no hits...got one walk.

  • The Padres have 5 homeruns in the past two games after not hitting that many in the previous 9.
  • They also tied a season high with 16 hits.
  • Have not lost two games in a row since dropping the middle games of a four-game series against the Braves on April 15 and 16.
  • 15-6 from April 16 through Wednesday's loss to the Cubs.
  • Wil Myers had to cover 123 feet to attempt the catch in the sixth inning that went off his glove that resulted in the Padres losing the lead.
  • Taylor Rogers remained in a tie for the National League lead by earing the first four-out save among his 13 saves on the season.

  • The Padres have hit 16 home runs in 337 at-bats against left-handed pitchers this season. That is one every 21.1 at-bats, the third-highest rate in the majors. The Padres average a home run every 53.1 at-bats against right-handers, which ranks 26th among the 30 teams.

  • The Padres are averaging a major league-leading 5.63 runs a game on the road. They have scored at least five runs in nine straight road games. They are averaging 3.41 runs at home, which ranks 25th.

  • The Braves have won the season series against the Padres five straight seasons (2016-19 and ’21). The teams split a four-game series in San Diego last month, so a Padres’ victory in one of the next two games stops that streak.

  • Luke Voit hit two singles last night and is 5-for-12 with two home runs, two walks and five runs scored in his three games since returning from the injured list.

  • Hosmer has 18 RBIs in the past 16 games.

  • The Padres entered the game batting just .206 in the first at-bat of an inning, which was the fourth-lowest mark in the majors. They went 4-for-9 leading off innings last night.

  • Machado did not have a hit for the first time in eight games, but a fifth-inning walk did extend his on-base streak to 22 games.

  • Jake Cronenworth extended his on-base streak to 18 games. He is batting .250 (18-for-72) with a .321 on-base percentage during the streak. He was 1-for-5 with a career-high four strikeouts last night. His 20.5 percent strikeout rate this season is five percent higher than his rookie season and more than six percent higher than last year.
