Let's hope this Aztec warrior decides to "come home", him & Paddack headlining our rotation would be a pretty powerful 1-2 punch!

Strasburg would do us good once every five games only if we have a bullpen behind him and he stays healthy. Spending gobs of money on individual stars like Machado, Hosmer, Myers, Kemp, that closer with the weird delivery, and Justin Upton has backfired on Preller too many times. We can't keep doing the same thing over and over.
If we have money, the first thing we need to do is spend whatever it takes to get Bochy and tell him he has four years to make us a contender. We want him to develop all that young talent we supposedly have. If we go the free agent route, the biggest bang for the buck is always middle-relief pitching.

I think you're underestimating how important it is to have a top line ace pitcher.

Given how strong the Dodgers are year after year, it's looking like the realistic way to make the playoffs is though a Wild Card spot, which means it will come down to one game to decide the season. You have to have an ace to win that game. We don't currently have someone like that. Paddack is probably our closest but next year would be his second year and he's still pretty inconsistent.

Paddack could be the guy next year but someone like Strausburg has already shown that he is an elite pitcher that has done it. Who would you feel more comfortable with?

If we're wanting experience for the manager spot, we absolutely need experience for our #1 pitching spot.

We aren't just one player away from a wildcard spot. But, if we were, we could win that wildcard game with a bunch of solid relievers. That strategy would cost less and, if done last year in lieu of the Machado contract, we probably would have finished in 2nd place in the division. Our bullpen blew a lot of games. Machado didn't win us many.

Let's stop putting all our nuts in the same mouth.
